Yeah, it sends one down mine every time I watch that.
Unfortunately, I was asleep/drunk--whatever you want to call it back in 91. I couldn't care less, didn't think it mattered what us "little" people thought. Turns out it does matter.
No matter what the truth does turn out to be, I'd lay money that the truth isn't the "official" story.

As usual, another fascinating post from you! But I'm not at all surprised that the info was right before our eyes. It seems the gov. has a habit, maybe intentional, of telling us what they will do next in one form or another. But it is in such small pieces, delivered in such a casual way, that it does not alarm us. And that's why they get no opposition before hand and anymore, afterwards. With most of the nation being "red" states now, it's very easy for the current administration to continue out the unfinished work from the 12 drab years of Regan/Herbert admin. It's damned annoying, but it has so much momentum now I can't see any way of stopping it.

The only way I can see to stop it is to spread awareness and encourage polite complaining to the people who can make the changes. An election year is coming up, and the smaller (state, county, city) elections are not doing the black box thing yet (at least not the smaller areas, like here in the midwest), so I believe with thousands upon thousands of complaints, we might get somewhere.
Dang, if that wasn't the runon sentence from hell, lol.

It is sickening how they do lay all out in front of our faces, yet so few are willing to go against their lifelong conditioning to see it.
I remember spending my 16th summer in NC at Seymour Johnson watching the Contra trials, which came in handy a year later when I had to choose a topic for my government paper. A secret government within our government was exposed at that time, right in front of the world on all 3 major news channels at a federal trial. Yet many still refuse to see how close we are coming to a repeat of Hitler.
