We Have Finished our Decorating for Christmas....or Maybe Not Quite!

Hubby and I trimmed the tree, while having our annual tree trimming disagreement over poper placement of the ornaments. I have to have a symmetrical look to the tree. My husband thinks it is okay to put them any old place. So he would hang an ornament, I would relocate it.
He puts the garland on the tree. I would be perfectly happy without garland. If we didn't have cats I would place some bright tinsel on the tree. Not a lot of tinsel, but just enough. What an ordeal. While he was busy with the garland I took out our decorations for the room and placed them in notable spots. The Rudolph collection moved twice before it was in place. I still have to anchor the characters in foam so they won't topple over.
In all, it took us about 2 hours to trim the tree and decorate the room. We lit the tree to get a good look at it. Hubby isn't happy with the LED lights. But, I think it looks pretty darned good. Below is a picture of the finished tree. Click on the image for a larger view.
How close are you to being finished with your decorating? Or, have you yet to begin? Happy Holidays all!

I haven't even started yet. We usually decorate the house on Thanksgiving evening, but I was exhausted last night so we put it off.
I don't have a clue when we'll get it done.
Do you want to come decorate my house for me?!

I plan on decorating this weekend. Not the tree though because I hate fake trees and I must buy a real one. So that's always the last thing up. I also live in a garage apartment behind a house (kind of like Mike Seiver on Growing Pains) so no one really sees my outside decorations to I don't usually do much there. Plus I'm poor and young and single so I don't have a lot of decorations in the first place...so it shouldn't take me too long.
The tree is very nice, even if it is fake :p

Thanks Raychill. I love decorating for the holidays. Have you tried the Goodwill store or Salvation Army for decorations. Often times people clean out their old ornaments and lights and donate them. Happy holidays! Big huggers to you!

No problem. I have actually checked good will and such, but I like my trees to be a theme each year. I wanted the theme to be "home made" this year but I don't have the money/time to make ornaments so I'll probably just use the stuff I have. But I've only had about 3 themes on my own and I don't wanna repeat already you know.

Your tree looks very nice. The colors go good together. We haven't even started decorating yet. We might do it this weekend if we have time. I was sick this past weekend and didn't feel like decorating. My mom has her trees up already and she finished decorating the rest of her house today. So maybe we'll have ours up soon--maybe this weekend if hubby goes in the attic and gets everything out for me.

we did not even start, heck, we are trying to figure out when we will have time for more then a cup of coffee together.
We are on opposite schedules, I have been working 14 hour days, he has been doing 12 hour days. Two ships adrift on the ocean have a better chance of meeting then we do.
BTW ---how about posting a picture where we can see the lights.

Good for you. I haven't even started yet. Hubby and I usually have a tree trimming Knock down, drag out party. He hates to decorate the tree and especially the lights but I can't do it all by myself anymore. Just don't have the energy like I used to. I am going to sedate him this year before we start (probably with Jack Daniels)LOL. I don't understand his aversion to doing the tree. When I was married to my sons dad this was a special occasion and we did it traditionally the weekend after Thanksgiving. We had a ball and all worked together. New hubby is just lazy I think LOL.
Glad you got yours done so early. I envy you.
Hugs.

Hubby does enjoy putting the tree up. The first year we were together he put it up and decorated it by himself. It made me a bit mad because I love to decorate the tree. He quickly learned to share the responsiblity!

You are way ahead of me with the decorating. I haven't even attempted to unbury the decorations. My son said we are going to have to get the tree up so we have a place to put the presents. The new crop of kittens will have a field day, I can see them now. Last year we had kittens, and this year we have some more kittens. Last year they were climbing the tree, I am sure the big cats will teach the little ones some of their tricks. It promises to be a festive season around here. On top of that we have a dog who likes to boss all the cats, hehe. I live in a lively house, over run with critters.

Elusive my tree is up and all decorated. I put my tree up the day after Thankgiving. My hubby does not like doing any of the decorating,so my grandkids and me do it all. When my kids were small and still lived at home he always enjoyed it but now he really dont care, if I put a tree up or not. He used to do all the decorating outside. But now he does not like doing it anymore. He says its to cold out and hes getting to old to do it.

Nope, have not yet started, but am planning to on November 30, a holiday. But I believe that decorating one's home for Christmas is a great way at uniting family members...it's the togetherness which really counts...it becomes a family affair, and the most important point is that the members do things together--which are not common these days because of too much preoccupatin with activities outside of the home. I'm happy for you for having the time to do it earlier...we hope to catch up with ours soon...Happy Holidays, too.

We haven't started putting up any Christmas decorations yet. I will probably start this week. I am like you though with the tree ornaments. I will move them all around until they are symmetrical. Usually I start wrapping the presents for out of state family to put under the tree but that won't happen this year.
My daughter is a year and a half old and everything will be unwrapped in a matter of minutes. I am already dreading the fact that she will most likely want to take down all the ornaments.

I haven't started to decorate yet. When I do I need to get my daughter here with her three year old to help. I was a divorced mom and I loved having my two daughters help decorate for Christmas. Though I don't like the lights on the Christmas tree. We have some "funny" stories of me getting the lights to work on the tree (funny now).

I admire those of you who have the drive to get things done, Elusive. I never think of putting out my tree and decorating before the first week in December-sometimes even later. I am a procrastinator by nature, but I will eventually get it done. I will have to take a look at your tree and comment on it.

Well the kids and I decided to put the tree up and decorate it today I got the tree all up and shapped nice then went to put on the decorations and noticed the string of lights that go around the tree have disappared so know I have to wait until tommorow and go and buy some lights to go around the tree. I just don't know what happened to those lights!
