Would you read a Harry Potter book not written by J.K. Rowling?... |
|
I read in one of the blogs here in mylot tht J.K. Rowling gave permission to writers to write Harry Potter spinoff as long as they will not be sold but be available for free (most likely in the internet) and specifically indicate that she is not in any manner connected to the spinoff story...
Would you spend time reading those would be spinoff stories? I for one won't... i think the magic that the Harry Potter series would be gone... I hope she would just hire someone and supervise that person to write other Harry Potter books if she doesn't want to write about it anymore...

6. beutfulmama6701 (1116) | 2 years ago | i havent heard any of the sort happening. i have read the harry potter books and i love the movies, but i couldnt get into the "knock off" versions if i had the chance.. i don think i could any how... i for sure wouldnt waste any money on them.. thats just like making a seqeul to a movie without the survigin chracters in it...

aseretdd (6842) | 2 years ago | Actually, J.K. Rowling only agreed to spinoffs that will not be commercially available or are free to the public... if they are intended to be sold... then that is another story... for sure those writers will be sued...

| 7. yourlifevideos (17) | 2 years ago | No. Before the last book came out, my husband got his hands on a bootleg copy or so he thought. I was reading it and I could just tell something wasn't right. The character names were right, the storyline was believable for a Potter book, but the writing was totally wrong. It just didn't give me the same feeling I got with a real Rowling story. I got two chapters in and knew it was a fake. I refused to read any more of it because Rowling's writing is a large part of what I love about the Potter series.

aseretdd (6842) | 2 years ago | I chanced upon one myself in the internet... and i actually knew it was a fake from the first few sentences... and i think that a lot of Harry Potter fans share as same view as yours and mine...

| 8. emmaradcliffe2 (19) | 2 years ago | yes i would...i love to read fanfictions specially the Harry/Hermione ones...lol...they are one way to know the fan's side of the story...
| |
| |
|
|
aseretdd (6842) | 2 years ago | Well that is another point to consider... fan's have their own way of how they want everything or evey life of the character turn out... i would have wanted Neville to end up with Ginny or Harry to end up with someone not yet introduced by J.K. Rowling...

9. houndsgood (597) | 2 years ago | Rowling was talking about "fan fiction." Sometimes when there is a popular series, movie, or comic book, fans will write their own short stories or make their own art inspired by the characters. There is TONS of fan fiction revolving around Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones and many other popular series. She thinks its great that kids and adults alike want to use their imaginations, it is more like someone paying tribute to the books rather than "trying to replace" Rowling if that makes any sense. I know when I was a little kid, we would make up stories about what characters from Star Wars, etc, did on their down time, etc. to amuse ourselves. We just didn't write them down. In fan fiction, you might write them and put them on your website, or in a fanclub paper, etc etc

aseretdd (6842) | 2 years ago | I think fan fiction are great... as long as they will not deviate to the real essense of the story...and as J.K. Rowling specifically stated... they should not be sold...but be available for free but a certain disclaimer should also specify that she has absolutely nothing to do with the certain fan fiction...i think that is fair enough...

|
|
| warpedfate (59) | 2 years ago | i think the "spin-off" being discussed is more likely a fan-fiction. Every fan fiction has a disclaimer and fans are allowed to do it as long as they do not generate money from the story itself, just for the benefit or leisurely reading it. and if ever i came across those 'spin-offs' why not try to read it? afterall, i sometimes need things to laugh about.>_<

10. jessje (101) | 2 years ago | No thank you, I think the magic of Harry potter is the way it was written and the only person who can do it that way is J.K. herself. It's the same with the Virginia Andrews books, after she died her family continued her writing, but it isn't the same at all.

aseretdd (6842) | 2 years ago | A lot of people has the same opinion... i think J.K. Rowling should reconsider her decision of allowing fan fiction to make their own spinoff... it might damage the reputation of the Harry Potter series...
