Are you a ghost believer or still suspicious about it? |
Tonight one of my students asked me a question about ghosts. She began with, "Do you think the existence of ghosts, please?". I told her that I don't believe so. I said that it is only imagined by people. But she told me quite a few true stories that her grandmother and family told her and also one example she herself had experienced, which made me believe her to some extent. Also some other girls joined in this topic or conversation and they all agree that in Building 7 on campus, where they live, they used to hear someone using the bathroom and tap-water and also the footsteps on the fifth floor at midnight, when everything was so quiet. It is also the top floor, where all the rooms are empty and there is even an iron door for the fifth floor and it is locked, with nobody being able to step to the fifth floor. They just get very nervous about this. By the way, our school is very big and the spot used to be some fields and some scattered tombs of the local villagers though it is now part of the town. It would be a lengthy one if I should tell each ghost story from my students. To make it short, I just wonder whether mylotters here believe that there are ghosts or if you or your family or friend has ever seen one in real. It would be interesting to know about ghost stories. Thanks for sharing with us your ideas or stories about this in advance. I would appreciate it very much for your responses, my dear friends. Come on and share with us, ok? Thanks again.

1. ssh123 (18422) | 11 months ago | I am neighther a believer nor suspicious about ghosts. I just firmly do not believe in ghosts. From where it comes? Who were they earlier? Who do they live (on top of tamarind tree). In India, there are millions of villages and the have c o c k and bull story in each village about ghosts. They have a name also for each one of them. Where do they get food. Where do they sleep? Are they reproducing? Who is their leader? It is the authors of the books who had long ago listened grandmother stories, gave tiwsts and turn to the stories and stuffed one or two ghost elements to make the story scary. There are no ghosts. I am the ghost, if I walk in the night where there is no moon, put a white cloth on my head. I might have gone for a nature call.

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Hello my dear ssh. I am very happy to see you in my discussion tonight(Nov 30, 07). I have often heard so many people talk about ghosts, but it is not easy to hear someone say that she herself has ever seen a ghost. It would be very scary to me when I hear about this, though like you, I don't believe it at all until I have seen one in real. Of course, I don't expect to see one as it would be really scary to death. I am glad to know that you don't believe it, nor are you suspicious about it. I am glad that I have some other responses about this topic, so I will go on reading their interesting responses about it. Thanks very much for dropping by, my dear ssh. (I am going to bed now as it is 23:45) See you tomorrow, my dear friend.

2. gerald_lian (807) | 11 months ago | I definitely believe in ghosts, even though I have never seen one appearing before my eyes. The reason why I believe in them is because my grandparents, parents, uncles and aunties claimed that they have seen ghosts before. As a child, I always heard stories from my grandparents, parents, uncles and aunties about their encounters with ghosts as they lived in a haunted house in the past due to poverty. The stories that they told me was exactly similar, even with all the minor details, so I could be very sure there wasn't a coalition by them just to trick a small kid like me to sleep. Besides, my parents actually showed me the haunted house they stayed in last time, but we just passed through without entering the house. One of the stories from my grandmother goes like this. She was washing clothes in the night by the river near her home and she actually saw a whitish apparition floating through the air, with the shape of a human but without a head. As the apparition drew nearer to her, my grandmother said that she could actually see that the apparition was headless and blood was oozing out from the area without the head. She claimed she even heard the apparition say this in Mandarin, "Help me to revenge, help me to revenge, I beg you". My grandmother was so frightened she ran straight back home leaving the all the clothes at the river. That's one of the stories that I heard which gave me the chills down my spines. There were many other stories too but I guess there's just too many to tell in one post. I'll post more if you remind me to from time to time!=)

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Good morning, dear gerald_lian. I show great interest in the wondeerful story from you grandmother. I am glad that I read this morning, not last night, otherwise it would be difficult for me to fall asleep. hehe. I especially like the part where the apparition could speak in mandarin. So this could be a Chinese ghost or apparition. Oh, my. Yes, in our Chinese culture, we have many ghosts stories. I guess that you must know that famous ancient classic novel by Pu Songling, which is entitled with "Liaozai", with many ghosts stories in it. I love this novel very much and used to read it a lot when I was young. This novel is also made into movies, which I also love to watch very much. If you have any more stories about what one has experienced in his own life and has ever seen with his own eyes, please feel free to type it here for us to share. I appreciate your response and interesting story very much. Have a good day, my dear friend.

3. wolfie34 (11411) | 11 months ago | I believe more about guardian angels, that we all have guardian angels surrounding us, watching over us and protecting us, sometimes we nearly have bad accidents, but because we are not ready to die we are protected. I like to think that my guardian angel is my beloved nan watching out for me. I always keep an open mind especially about the paranormal. Anything is possible in this world and unless you have proper evidence, proof that ghosts do NOT exist then you can't say I don't believe in ghosts.

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Good morning, my dear friend wolfie. I think that it is better to believe more about guardian angels than ghosts, as they are there protecting us from getting into any evil things. I am glad to know that you have guardian angels in the heart. Yeah, it is the same with me to keep an open mind about the paranormal stuff as this is such a mysterious world, where there are so much for us to learn about. Thanks so much for your response, wolfie. Good day.

| sdiaz411 (47) | 10 months ago | wolf you are right, anything is possible. guardian angels, yes i believe thats possible, but if its true why do they only protect us from danger and not life mistake situations. I bet most of us could of used protection then.

5. carolbee (4487) | 11 months ago | I've never personally seen or interacted with a ghost. Think it's an imaginative theory or process. I may have tons of people disagree with me here but this is my honest opinion. Thanks for the interesting discussion.

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Hello carol bee friend. I also think the same that it is only out of people's imagination so far as ghosts are concerned. Here I agree with you and thanks for your so honest an opinion. I appreciate it very much. Thanks and have a good day, my dear friend.

6. jcj_111776 (994) | 11 months ago | hello william. I don't believe that when a person dies, they come back as ghosts and haunt someone else. But I do believe that there are unearthly "creatures" that scare people. These things are of the evil stuffs. I, myself, had two unexplained eery experiences regarding this matter. And I'm pretty sure that they were not a product of my imagination because I've looked at the "thing" for a few solid minutes and they didn't fade away. I knew that they were there and I've seen them. But for me to think that it's the ghost of a dead person, I don't think so. What scares me the most, is that these things that we see or hear, that gives us goosebumps, are the product of something pure evil.

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Good morning, my dear jcj friend. I am happy to see you around today as I have not seen you around at Mylot for a long time. Love to see the cute yellow duck dancing, so elegant. Well, thanks for sharing your idea about this topic and I agree that we really do have some goose bumps while listening to such things as ghost stories. I have been fond of these stories very much ever since I was a kid. I appreciate your responding and seeing you here in my discussion. Have a good day, my dear friend.

jcj_111776 (994) | 11 months ago | I haven't been responding much these past few weeks. Been so busy with my son's school activities that all I can do when I log in here is to upload some pictures. You're so right about the goosebumps. Whenever someone starts telling those ghost stories, I start feeling a little creepy.

williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Hello dear jcj. I see now why you have been so busy. Yeah, your son's school activities are more important as he might need your help with his study while he is still a primary school pupil. Take care, my dear friend.

| 7. spiritfingers7 (35) | 11 months ago | I believe for years that ghosts are real. And that dead relatives can speak to you from beyond the grave. But I am a christian so I wanted to see what the bible said about it. Turns out that once you are dead, you can't speak to the living. When people are seeing ghosts they are really seeing demons that are posing as that dead person. For more information on this go to www.itiswritten.com and in the search engine type in voices from beyond the grave. There is a great video clip on there about what the bible says.

8. wiccania (2640) | 11 months ago | I believe in ghosts. I've seen and felt them all my life. My mothers house is very active in that regard. I've seen 3, felt many more. There's at least 1 kid there. Very michevious. Especially at Christmas. There are a couple of battery operated ornaments my mom has that she puts on the tree. And the kid activates them.
| |
| |
| spiritfingers7 (35) | 11 months ago | it makes perfect sense that it happened more often around christmas. why? because as i said in my responce. they aren't ghosts. they are demons posing as ghost. and demons do that to get your focus off of God. christmas being all about the birth of Christ is the time when they want to distract you the most.
| |
wiccania (2640) | 11 months ago | They're not demons, they're ghosts. Most of them are the ghosts of people that died in that house. Several people have. And the activation of the ornaments doesn't distract the people in the house from Christmas, they actually bring attention to it. As a matter of fact, having those ornaments go off at random actually served to cheer up my sister, who had lost her best friend in a car accident earlier that year. It made her enjoy Christmas that year instead of spending the entire holiday season crying for her lost friend. When you encounter a demon, you'll know it. Trust me.

| spiritfingers7 (35) | 11 months ago | Are you a christian? Do you read the bible? It says in the bible that a dead man can not revisit his home. And that he will never turn to this earth. You can't argue with God. He's the one who said that the dead can not speak to the living. check out this web site www.itiswritten.com and in the search engine put voices from beyond the grave. And watch the video on it. From age 5 to 16 I spoke to "ghosts" and seen them on a regular basis. 3 people died in my moms house. I lost my dad, grandfather, cousin and brother in law. And all 4 of them came to me after they died. Only problem is...it wasn't them. It was demons posing as them. You are under the impression that when a demon show himself that you will feel their evil. This is not always true. The devil himself can make you believe that he is good.
| |
wiccania (2640) | 11 months ago | No, I don't believe in the Christian idea of god. By the way, the last time I checked god didn't write the bible. Men did. I'm not here to argue theology or the theories you got from some website (afterall, if you read it on the internet it MUST be true). The question was whether people believe in ghosts. I do. I've had experiences with them. Many experiences, all of my life. All but 1 were very positive experiences. No, ghosts don't talk. But they do communicate. There's a difference. If you were "talking to ghosts" I'd say that you were just imaginative.
| |
| spiritfingers7 (35) | 11 months ago | I never once said they spoke. I said I spoke to them. And the web site that I told you about has passages straight out of the bible. (I guessed that you didn't own one...and therefore it would be easier for you to just go to the web site). You said that last time you checked, God didn't write the bible but men did. Well, while you were checking you must have skipped over the part that said, God told them what to write. I know where you are coming from with believing in ghosts. As I stated before, I believed in them for years. But then I decided to further educate myself on the matter. And it really opened my eyes.
| |
wiccania (2640) | 11 months ago | Please don't think that you're more educated on ghosts that I am. You're backing up what you've "learned" by the beliefs of 1 religion. There are many more religions than that, and most of them are older than Christianity. And I've studied several of them. Different religions have different views on the subject of ghosts. You've picked one set to believe. My experience tells me that that's wrong. I never said that the ghosts always made me feel good. I said that the ornaments activating at Christmas made my sister feel better. Trust me, I'm very attuned to the feeling of evil. I can read it in people, animals, even ghosts. Just because "god told the men what to write" doesn't mean that they got it right, or that it was translated right. There have been many proven mistranslations in the bible.
| |
| spiritfingers7 (35) | 11 months ago | I am a Christian and that is that. You have made it very clear that you are not. I'm glad that you study different religions. As do I (I'm majoring in Theology and Religious Studies). Enough said. You and your beliefs have a great day.

9. Sherry12 (1845) | 11 months ago | I believe in ghosts. I've seen one at a house we lived in, he was sitting in a chair in the family room and when I came into the room, he got up and just vanished. I almost I was just seeing things. Then one of the kids said they had seen somebody in the same room earlier. Also, I had a strange experience after my father-in-law passed on. It was in the morning and I was in that half asleep/awake stage. The phone rang and I answered it and it was my father-in-law asking me if we were ok. I really thought I dreamed it, then my sister-in-law started telling my husband about the phone call she recieved and she didn't know if she was dreaming or if it was real. It was at the same time I thought I had gotten a phone call. It is strange we both had the same experience. I think he was checking that we were all ok, before he moved on. Have you checked out the history of the building they are talking about and do you know why it is locked? That is really interesting. I love to hear about ghost sitings.
| |
| |
williamjisir (9482) | 11 months ago | Hello dear Sherry. Thanks so much for letting us know about your idea about this topic by giving a convicing example both you and your sister-in-law have experienced for the phone from your father-in-law who passed away. I was reading this response with goose skin bumps. I like your story. Ok, it is my turn again to talk about the students' dormitory. As we have fewer students this year, all of the apartments on the top floor are empty and it is locked so that none of the students would be able to go there. That is the usual practice as we have an iron door for each floor. The only explanation to this is our school used to be villages and there used to be some scattered tombs. So I am wondering whether there are real ghosts. Thanks for your nice and convincing response very much. I have enjoyed myself from it. Have a great day, my dear Sherry.

10. kuirqs (277) | 11 months ago | I have seen ghosts or spirits as a child. I did not realize it then, I had thought it was somebody else like my mother or a stranger but they either disappeared quickly or I saw my mother immediatetly after I saw the spirit. I suppose they are real. I definitely did nt imagine those sightings.
