Media Matters...Suppressive Clowns...(at least about Domestic Abuse)

I know I just made some people angry, but its the truth. Want to find out what happened, I left the link at the door. Isn't great non-bias in reporting only applies to some, and other "news" sources/sites claim it but not even they live up to the role. Yes this is about domestic abuse, but the parts to take home are these. The fact that Media Matters put up a false story and did not do their research. The fact that Media Matters REMOVED any post that did not fit the current agenda. The fact that research from RADAR(Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting) was not considered by these people. http://mensnewsdaily.com/2007/12/06/media-matters-suppresses-the-truth-on-partner-abuse/

I am not familiar with the media organisations you referred to. However, a quick read of the link you provided gave me enough background info to decide that Media Matters were not accurate. In fact, I would say that Media Matters have a hidden agenda. What would it be? To prove that women are inclined towards Domestic Violence as much as men? So, even if stats showed this was the case, what do Media Matters gain by reporting this so biased? I started a discussion on Domestic Violence about two weeks ago. It didn't get much of a response, & I don't think anyone saw the hidden message in my discussion. There seem to be two issues here: 1. What are the figures for Domestic Violence? In Australia the vast majority of DV cases are perpetuated by men. I have never seen stats here to show otherwise. I doubt whether the US is much different. 2.The accuracy of media reporting. Are there requirements that the media must make all efforts to report accurately? I have an interest in the DV issue, & will monitor this very relevant discussion, if I get access to the computer tonight.

I really don't see why you think you made anyone angry with what you said. I think people know you are speaking truth. There have been many times the media presents a story so extremely well and I think okay they got this right for sure. Wrong! Oh no they left out vital truths that would change the whole perception of the news story. Sick of it to tell you the truth. Oh my favorit (NOT) is CNN as they claim they are the most trusted news worthy station! It just kills me everytime I see that so I finally wrote and ask them to stop putting that up on the tv screen as they are only making a fool of themselves. I am not sure they listened as I am not watching so closely to their news stories as I once use to.

The only reason that statement came up was because I know there are a few media matters fans 'round 'ere! Thanks for sharing Coffee, I agree with what you say, a lot of it! And props to you for mentioning one of the most recent in the radar Non-news networks "CCCP-NN". They are not the most trusted news worthy station. Can't even have a real debate right... and they can't even attack a candidate right. Ah well, more for the blooper reels for bloggers and forum goers.

This may be out in left field from where you are coming from, but the fact is not only that "Media" or ever "the media" suppresses the truth, but so does the medical establishment, well, not as much as a few years back, but still. Spousal abuse is devastating for the spouses and especially for the children, regardless of who is the abuser and often it is both parents. Suppression is unfortunate regardless of the subject, in my view, but your point is well taken that looking the other way keeps wrong-doers from getting the help they need as well as keeping the victims in danger.

Woah, no need to apologize! You are fine!! I'm glad you did respond and see this though. Don't worry too much because even the most observant can still miss items. Other times its a drag knowing them and worst posting them.
