As Canadians we celebrate(or should) all religions.
I am not saying that everyone sees things the same way.
The Chinese new year, the Hindu new year and several other holidays are celebrated at the community centre next door to me with no one protesting.
There is also a group of people who come together every day and face the sun and do some kind of worship(EVERYDAY).
While they are 'praying/worship' other people use the feild to cross on their way where they are going, no slurs or other indecent things are exchanged.
I say this because there is so much attention paid to how we don't get along that I thought I would share something where we all get along. Susan

Another thing that happens a lot around Christmas time that there are the baby Jesus that are stolen from Nativity scenes and sometimes the whole cresch if one piece.

This is no different.

While I can understand someone for wanting to put up a pentacle next to a manger, which is their belief sign,, at this point in time I think that it is best that there are no signs of religion at City hall, it will be sparked as a hate crime or religious crime or whatever, but right now I think the mayor has a good handle on it.

Wow thats quite the story. I thought nativity scenes were a part of christmas. After all we are celebrating the birth of christ. I think these people are very childish.

it's indeed worth kudos to welcome all holiday symbols.
the world is too big to be ruled by one thought.so, along with the increaseing international contact, understanding and harmony is being needed more and more.
the mayor have made a wise decision .

I think the mayor had the right idea by allong all symbols of many faiths to be displayed.

I think it's awful that some poeple got up in a tizzy about certain symbols and acted badly.

I mean regardless the version, this was the holidays, we're talkingabout. Time for love and sharing and kindness.
If they thought their symbol was better, then they should've been an example of this, not the exact opposite.

It just makes me a little sad when people do crap like that.

We need more Mayors to do that, I think. Then withthings more open and obvious, more talking and discussing will be done..then hopefully more acceptance and tolerance will happen.

Hi Ravenladyj, Yes of course the mayor was right. One religion is equal to another and everyone should be treated fairly. What is wrong with us that we can't have some respect for each other? Blessings.
