Anyone had their tubes tied and still got pregnant ? |
| |
| I am pregnant with my second baby, and i am almost 28. I dont want anymore kids after this one. Two is totally enough for me. I just didn't want to have an only child, and this makes my daughter a big sister :) I will be having a c section again, and told them i want my tubes tied at the same time. I have heard a FEW stories since making the decision about other women who have HAD their tubes tied and STILL gotten pregnant. Just how well does having your tubes tied prevent pregnancy?! | | | | | |

| | My neighbors granddaughter had her tubes tied. She had her son 10 years ago and then had her tubes tied. She was dieting and taking diet pills because she was gaining weight. Finally one of her friends told her she thought she looked pregnant. So she went to the doctor and found out she was. | | | | | | |

| | well i have 2 kids of my own and that is plenty in my house but i also have 3 stepkids. they are amazing you learn to adjust to having all of them. But im not feeling that great these days and i had my tubes tied clipped and burned while i was having a c section. i will tell ya that if you have had a previous its alot more painful when u have your tubes tied and burned at the same time but obviously if they are in there might as well get it done at the same time. but i have had some pelvic pain and painful periods also which i never had before. so i guess there is ups and downs . but i definetly do NOT want anymore children i think 5 is plenty for us. so good luck to all who want more and reversals. I wish you guys the best. | | | |

| | My sister had her tubes tied, like, 25 years ago. She did get pregnant a short time after that. Being that the tubes were tied the sperm got up but the egg could not get down so it was considered a tubal pregnancy and had to be terminated. Keep in mind, that was several years ago and things may have improved since then... or not. | | | | | | |

| | You know, a vasectomy is a whole lot easier than tubal ligation. It has become more popular than tubal ligation as well. And for God's sakes, haven't women put their bodies through enough! It's time for the man to feel a little pain. ;) | | | |

| | Actually a tubal ligation (blockage) is easier and faster and less painful than a vasectomy or a ligation. www.essure.com I had it done. Painless and there was no surgery and I was wide awake during the 10 minute procedure. | | | |

| | I have no experience with this but from the some of the stories it sounds like it does happen. You should probably think of some back up methods to use just in case. | | | | | | |

| | But if i have to take birth control ANYWAYS, then what is the point of going through the proceedure you see ? I want my tubes tied so that i dont HAVE to use any sort of protection, cause besides condoms, which are not very romantic, most have bad side effects and/or cause some sort of health problems! | | | |

| | I too got my tubes tied, but I am also on the pill seasonelle (spelling?) which is the one that makes you have a period every 3 months instead of every month. I have PCOS so when I get my visit it is HORRID so the less visits the better! | | | |

| | I have a friend who had two rough pregnancies and was counselled not to have any more children. Her obstetrician tied, cut and burned her tubes. They wanted to be really sure. You have to be careful what hospital you deliver in also. My sister wanted to get her tubes tied but the hospital was Catholic and refused to do it. Now she is on the patch. | | | | | | |

The birthing unit where i live is actually closed right now, and is supposed to reopen in january, I am due in april. So i'm HOPING it opens so i dont have to travel to another town as i dont drive nor does my hubby. | | | |

| | Congatulations to you and your partner.I am pretty sure your baby will be a lot of joy to the family especially to your 1st child. My Mom is a midwife and she's the one who had strongly enforced family planning program in our hometown. As far as I know, she'd have an IUD(Intrauterine device after having four children). So far I heard her saying that women prefer to have their tubes tied rather than the one she had.And there are rare cases that pregnancy occurs after the procedure is done. Basing from my knowledge on human anatomy, the fallopian tubes, that is where the ovum is released and goes all the way to upper two third of the cervix to meet the sperm in order to be fertilized and viable to create life.Since the tying of tubes can have an accidental loosening, It would be possible that the ovum could still be released to travel and meet sperm. It would be beneficial for women who had undergone this procedure to have a thorough check-up for at least the 1st year to ensure there will be no complications.I am pretty sure your OB doctor will assure you there is only a small percentage of being pregnant again. Goodluck! | | | | | | |

| | They don't just tie them now, they cauterize them. I don't know anybody who's gotten pregnant after having them done. The odds are infinitisimal all that is going to heal itself, and it's so much more effective and safe than any other method. Go for it. | | | | | | |

| | I had my tubes cut, tied and burned 2 years ago after having my 3rd child via c-section. I just found out a week ago that I am 6 weeks pregnant (in the uterus). My doctor said that in 15 years he has only seen 1 other woman get pregnant after this procedure, but it CAN happen!! I am 30 and did not want anymore children. When I asked to have the sterilization, I was very clear with the doctor that I did not want to worry about having anymore children. He assured me that there was almost no chance, but nothing is 100%. Please don't make the same mistake I did and use some other form of birth control if you do not want to get pregnant. | | | |

| | hi mullen, i've had the procedure 2 and a half years now, and i haven't gotten pregnant yet, i think they done mine good.. ;P for a few months i was really sad i didnt' have the option to have more kids, incase we were stable finacially to have more babies, but then, i realized.. if i have another baby at 30, for the sake of having one.. that's a lil selfish.. considering i have two children already, and at 30 - 35 the increase in complications rises significantly from what i've heard.. and i have two normal healthy children, i'm blessed and happy with my family i have ;) | | | |

| | I had endometriosis really bad and after trying all the options and running out of options, my last resort was to have my last child and breastfeed for as long as possible, so after three months of not being on the pill I got pregnant with my son. After his six weeks checkup I had my tubes tied and cauterized. I was told that it was forever. 5 years later, I was having the same old familiar symptoms again so I went in for an ultrasound, thinking the endometriosis had come back. My husband was with me and when they told us that I was pregnant, we were both overjoyed, but at the same time we wondered how it could happen. It wasn't in the tubes and everything was where it supposed to be but unfortunately after thirty minutes of us being happy we were saddened when they told us that the baby wouldn't survive. There was no pole or yoke sack. Three weeks later we lost the baby. I really thought I had grounds for a lawsuit against the doctor who tied my tubes, but we found out that they only guarantee it for up to five years. It can come undone and you can get pregnant again. After going through all this I finally decided to go all the way and had a complete hysterectomy. I don't regret it for one minute. It made me feel healthier and I no longer have to suffer from the pain of endometriosis. Hysterectomy is the only sure way to keep from getting pregnant, and now with the new technology even a hysterectomy doesn't have to be the end of childbearing. You can get a uterine transplant now, but of course, if you make a decision like this, you should understand and know what you want. There are NO GUARANTEES. | | | | | | |
