Paris & Nicky Hilton going to the Poorhouse?!?

Hotel billionaire Barron Hilton is sending his grandkids to the relative poorhouse. He announced plans to give 97% of his fortune to charity.

He wants his money to go toward helping those in dire need. He is also deeply ashamed of the way his granddaughter Paris Hilton has brought shame to the family name.

Paris has some money of her own. She does modeling, fashion, TV, audio recording, and book writing with ghosts doing the actual work of course. It doesn't come close to what the Hilton fortune would have passed down to her.

Yeah but what is #% of his fortune though...that's not exactly the poorhouse. I believe they will stand fine because they are making money too...yes it's embarrassing what the girls are doing and it's a great deed that Barron Hilton is helping those who are in need and choose to give to these people instead of his own grandkids because his grandkids are destroying his last name...but as far as these people going to the poor house no way the rich always have their way of staying on the top of the chart so to speak...They know how to work and use their elite status...

What you and I consider "the poorhouse" and what the Hilton sisters consider "the poorhouse" are two different things.

When you become accustomed to a certain standard of living, acclimating to a different standard of living is not always easy. For example, we in the west are used to having running water and a flush toilet inside the house. Many people in third world countries consider that a wild luxury.

I am not condoning the girl's behavior or condemning Grandfather Hilton's action, just trying to see this in some perspective.

I do think a bit of reality does need to say hello to those sisters. Most especially Paris! I don't hear so much about Nicky.

That is true their definition of poorhouse is different from ours...I believe Nicky is no where near what Paris...Paris is a bad girl in her own category LOL and Nicky is just getting her feet wet...

That wont have any effect on them...they will continue to live
the same way as they do now. They have so much money now that
there is no way they can spend it all. So what do they care?
It just puts them out in the public eye even more.
I bet they laugh at what some of the magazines are saying about
them...anyway was it money from their grandfather that got them where
they are today? Were they living off his money?

The effect on how they were living; you are probably right about that. However, their mystique probably got a bruise or two. There is something about a multi-billion dollar heiress that brings out all the hanger-ons from the woodwork.

Good for him. I cannot stand Paris Hilton myself. Don't know too much about Nicky but Paris is a spoiled brat and doesn't deserve her grandfathers fortune. It is definitely going to better people. :)

Good for him. They should be expected to make thier own way like the rest of us have to. I have worked hard for what I have in life and I appreciate it so much more than if it were just given to me. If you get everything you want in life with no hard times for you then nothing will have any real value. I think he is doing them a favor. But really like they could not live on the left over 3%.

They have more than that 3%. They have what their father and mother would give them. But I'm certain this smarts. Being an ultimate heiress is a mystique that adds to an otherwise talentless, classless person that draws flies to horse apples. Now she is just a person from a famous family...
