I am definitely an introvert. While growing up, I was painfully shy when I am around people I just met. It takes a long time for me to get comfortable around them. But once I do, I really get talkative and I love to laugh a lot. How about you?

I am more of an extrovert. I love people and interacting with others. I was a bit shy as well at times, but when it came to make new friends I was never shy :) Reading your post reminds me of my daughter, she is a bit like you when around new people, but after she knows them better she is the life of the party :)

Thanks again for responding to my post. Do you encourage your daughter to be more extrovert or leave it like that? My mother would often tell me before that I should not be shy and I should learn to interact more with people.

I don't necessarily tell her to be more extrovert, but I try to provide her with options that make her feel more comfortable with new people and situations. I provided activities and encouraged her to be involved in things that she liked and where she would slowly get used to be in public and in the presence of people she didn't know - like drama classes at school, choir, debating club in high school etc. She is still shy but is able to function naturally in a stress situation that would usually get her to freeze. SHe is also able to if not make new friends more easily, at least accept new friends that reach out for her :)

well we're just the same. but once I really get to know the person then I guess I can be talkative already and can start conversations with them.

I consider myself an extrovert in most situations and most of the time but, as I just said in another of your discussions, I've been told by people they thought I was quiet and shy when they first met me so I might be the one who's mixed up here! I was like you when I was growing up though, then I really was quiet and shy but that's something I've long since outgrown. Annie

I was an introvert. When I got used to dealing with different company from different walks of life that I get to learn the art of socializing. I love being an extrovert now.

I'm also an introvert I was very shy when I was younger as well but I'm not as shy now. I'm still quiet but I can talk to people a lot more now. Sometimes I still don't have much to say around strangers like at a party but I'm much better as I got older.

I'm introverted. I'm still very shy in real life. I'm less shy online. Talking to people I don't know is very hard, although I can also talk a lot when I'm comfortable and when I'm really excited about something.

i am also an introvert type of person. i tend to have a hard time socializing with new people and my friends are of small numbers only. only a few people know the real me. i usually express myself through writing or chatting. when i'm with the people i am comfortable with, i tend to be funny and talkative. i don't know why i find it hard to be with new people. but i think it as a blessing rather than a curse.
