Do you play computer games? What kind and how often?

I am not sure what you mean by strategy and mission games. What do they involve...are they more like war games? A friend like Call of Duty but I have never played that.

Hi and thanks for your interesting addition and the link to what you wrote. I will check it out and get back to you. It is really interesting to know that you researched it and put it out there for others to learn. I often wondered about what skill sets gaming provides. With Hellfire it is a step up for me because it is a 2-d shooter style and I have to use my left hand to manipulate the keys for movement use the mouse to fire and defend. I know that kind of thing really enhances eye-hand coordination and left/right brain synchronization.

So there you go...having fun and improving others skills as well...that confirms it I am going to keep on gaming!

Is World of Warcraft put out by the same company that produces Diablo and Hellgate? Also is this game one that you need to be on-line to play with others on the net or a game one that is just for personal use?

I also played some of the Sim games...mostly Sim City...but then I moved on to games that include magic and they are the ones I really enjoy right now.

Blizzard is the company that makes both World of Warcraft and Diablo. For World of Warcraft, you not only have to be online, but also have to pay for a subscription. That's a bit of a bummer, but the game is awesome, and always being upgraded. So personally I think the fee is worth it.

Hi...was your post long? Compared to some of mine I think you did a good job of being concise, informative and to the point as you usually are. Differing perspectives...and what makes this site so enjoyable!

Anyway, thanks for coming back with more information. After you posted your response another member commented that she also plays but found that newbies can have a rough time with the cliques that are pre-existing. Have you found that? I enjoyed Diablo a lot and it was the game that I learned on after Fate. The design team that worked for Blizzard also worked on a new game we have been playing...Hellgate. David and I are enjoying it a lot and there is word that they are coming out with an expansion pack for it already. It was a little buggy but the patches have helped that.

Hi again...I popped over to your site and found a couple of your older discussions to respond to. It is really great to hear that our like-mindedness extends into the world of gaming too! Like you I was really surprised that I could get into gaming the way I have. At first David thought someone had turned me into a "pod person' from another planet. I have also played Diablo and have taken a couple of characters right up to Epic or Lengendary...whatever is the higher of the two.

Lecanis also mentioned World of Warcraft...and I asked her too...is it a game where you have to play on-line...or is it like other ones where you buy the game....load it in and just play?

I haven't heard of Beyond Atlantis...but I have always been fascinated by stories of Atlantis and might check that one out unless it is also an on-line game. If you like action, adventure games you might want to checkout Hellgate. It is fairly new and David and I are totally into it. We start characters at the same time and then compare what we have and how they are doing. It it a 3-D shooter type and it is great fun to play.

Anyway, thank you again for your interest and participation here. I have had so many ideas pop into my head the last couple of days and it is fun to be chatted with familiar friends because we haven't done so in awhile. I guess my 'thinkers' brain is making up for the time I didn't have a chance to offer discussions.

Look forward to more of the same as time permits for both of us.

I bought the game at Wal-Mart and play more offline then I do online. Mostly because most of those that do play online are rather rude to new comers, plus playing offline gives me a chance to understand the game better without worrying about any surprise attacks by someone trying to "rob" me blind, just because of my 'new comer' or 'newb' status.

Beyond Atlantis I am not sure if it is made anymore, so you might have to do an internet search and possibly buy it online. I got mine 4 years ago and even than it was in the bargain bin at Software Etc. However, if you are able to find it, it wasn't made to be played online, it's just a single player adventure game where you travel through different worlds trying to restore peace and balance to not only Atlantis but to each of the worlds that you visit. To me it's a fun and entertaining game.

Have heard a few good reviews about Hellgate. So will have to see if I can find it around here. I only played the first Diablo, since I tend to jump around from game to game at times. So will also have to try out the second and third parts when time allows some extra time for me to do such.

I appreciate the update and where you found the games you enjoy. Beyond Atlantis does sound like my kind of game and I will hunt around and see if I can find it. I was not aware that newbies are treated that way on internet gaming sites. I can appreciate why you wouldn't like being treated that way...a point I will tuck away for future reference. At this stage of my gaming life I do not feel the need or inclination to involve myself in that venue. I happy playing on my own, sharing gaming strategies with David and other friends who play some of the games I do.

If you do have a chance to pick up Hellgate and play I'd be interested in hearing your opinion about it. Anyway, happy gaming! I might sign off soon a play a little before packing it in for the evening. David has been playing downstairs as I've been here and he found a really unusual weapon that neither one of us have seen before. Fun stuff!

You are the third person who has mentioned Warcraft during this discussion. I am not familiar with it and do not play on-line games. Good to know that you have found one that you enjoy. For me it can be a challenge to balance my love of gaming with the many other hobbies, interests and work commitments I have. David and I are both self-employed so it is easy to play a lot and not work as much when we get new games to try out. However, overall we are generally successful in balancing our work and play time.

I agree with you about the games being a great channel for the busy brains syndrome. From the sound of it you have well-rounded interests and that is a healthy approach for anyone.

Well what you've got is more than enough. Some of the games you listed I have also played...Simcity, Solitare are two of them. As I mentioned in my discussion I never opened myself to gaming for years..and now I love it! As you point out they are a good way to relax...whether for 15 minutes or longer. Whatever works!

Well you certainly sound like an experienced gamer and in a whole other league from where I am. The on-line games are not something I have explored and at this point I probably won't. As I mentioned to the programmer...I do my best keep my personal and professional commitments in balance and I like the freedom of playing games when I am of a mind to do so...and then leaving them for as long as I have other things I want to do.

Rising Force On-line sounds complicated and good thing you have the mind and experience to persevere and get the hang of it. Learning new things and adding new dimensions to life and living is what it is all about...and you sound like you are doing it well my friend.

Oh boy do I know what you mean about getting immersed in gaming and playing too long. That happens to me a lot...especially when I start a new game and am into developing the character. Time flies and yes, sometimes you don't feel too well after long stretches.

I like playing some card and board games with friends too. It is a fun way to relax and have some laughs.
