I was watching Without a Trace and Poppy is pregnant. In fact it was written into the script, and you can tell by her face that she definitely is pregnant. Now there is another show where the actress was pregnant -she looked like my daughter-in-law when she came from her honeymoon and I said, Yes I'm going to be a grandmother, but that pregnancy was not written into the script because I guess she became pregnant just before the shooting ended. Now I can understand not showing her full or showing her kneeling down, only.
But when the pregnancy is written in the script, why not show the actress were maternity outfits or having the other actors offer to help her in the script? If they had a scene when she lost the baby, wouldn't the studio made her makeup to disguise the pregnancy glow on her face?

If the actress is pregnant, they could write it in the script. I mean that actress in Csi Ny and Danny were very close. I mean with the other CSI shows having policies about lovers not working close together, they could have a show about Danny and Lindsay being secretly married and have an investigation about her not wanting to go on light duty - mind you Anne already had the baby, so they could use pillows.

I have some dandies, too bad the writers of the script had not thought of that before.

I cannot understand why studios are so against their stars being pregnant. I mean it is just as silly to have the star being skinny and then suddenly there she is with a baby. Oh and using a six month old baby as a newborn. That must really have hurt.

Right. I think they should just make it realistic. I guess They don't want to wait 9 months to move on to their next episodes or scenes.
LOL, about the 6 month old neborn baby. I know they could find a smaller one that that LOL. Maybe the 6 month old is a better actor LOL?

If they write the pregnancy in the show, they should show the actress pregnant.

I hadn't given this a second thought until I read your post! Just goes to show you how involved I get into television. Haven't a clue as to why they haven't shown the baby belly. Maybe it is because she is further along than her character is.

I think writing a pregnancy into a show is fine, but then don't hide it. There are many times that it can't be written in and I can understand that situation. Poppy is the perfect example of a storyline that should have been done differently. I don't know, if some episodes couldn't be done because of the strike, but right now it looks like its bad to be pregnant on television.

It has always been bad to be pregnant on Television unless you were not pregnant in the first place. I think it is because many television moguls want pregnant women to chase down cars, leap over fences, jump from high buildings and most pregnant women cannot do that, so they hire a non-pregnant actress and make her use pillows.
Oh and you cannot have Poppy lose the baby, even her face gives her away.

They also don't make comments about it either, like how she is doing or anything..Maybe it is still too soon to talk about it too much, but then again she has got to be what, at least 5 months, wouldn't you say..When was it she announced it, about 3-4 months ago? Then the extra time they had to take to write that part in, so I would say over 5 months..

They wrote it in the script. Before the half season ended, she found out the father was married.

They have just done this on Stargate: Atlantis, but it is part of the story so hopefully it will work.
I think part of the problems is what are they surposed to do, sack the actress?
Thats against the law now so they have to work round it. It did make me laugh recently when the studio came out behind Jamie Lynn Spears, and then the show was promply dropped.
Julia Roberts, and Glenn Close, have both used being pregnant to play sexy charcters in films.
