Prenancy of star written into script but only see her back or the top part

I don't get this either. The character has restricted duty (she doesn't go chasing after any criminals, mostly sits behind a desk), but as you say, the pregnancy is written into the script and yet they only show her from the chest up and always wearing black. I don't understand this at all. When Lindsay from CSI:NY was pregnant (the actress, not the character) it was not written into the script and it wasn't until she said she was "leaving" for a little while did I realize she was pregnant. The chest usually is a dead giveaway.

If you watch any soaps, they go to great lengths to cover up pregnancies that aren't written into the script - carrying big purses, holding a pillow in front of them, standing in front of a large piece of furniture. On As The World Turns 3 of the actresses were pregnant at the same time. They had them all kidnapped and were wearing robes in all their scenes. LOL!

I don't understand why they even bothered to write Poppy Montgomery's pregnancy into the script if they aren't even going to show her. They did with L&O: Criminal Intent when Eames was pregnant.

They also don't make comments about it either, like how she is doing or anything..Maybe it is still too soon to talk about it too much, but then again she has got to be what, at least 5 months, wouldn't you say..When was it she announced it, about 3-4 months ago? Then the extra time they had to take to write that part in, so I would say over 5 months..

I think writing a pregnancy into a show is fine, but then don't hide it. There are many times that it can't be written in and I can understand that situation. Poppy is the perfect example of a storyline that should have been done differently. I don't know, if some episodes couldn't be done because of the strike, but right now it looks like its bad to be pregnant on television.

That is what I think also. They should have made scenes to be more realistic. I think it wouldn't have added more interest to it.

I hadn't given this a second thought until I read your post! Just goes to show you how involved I get into television. Haven't a clue as to why they haven't shown the baby belly. Maybe it is because she is further along than her character is.

They have just done this on Stargate: Atlantis, but it is part of the story so hopefully it will work.

I think part of the problems is what are they surposed to do, sack the actress?
Thats against the law now so they have to work round it. It did make me laugh recently when the studio came out behind Jamie Lynn Spears, and then the show was promply dropped.

Julia Roberts, and Glenn Close, have both used being pregnant to play sexy charcters in films.
