Where do you get your sheet music  

Christian book stores usually sell a book of songs and they are usually only copyrighted for congregational singing. There is a store in our city that does sell religious sheet music, and I know there is an online store that also sells religious sheet music, and there are ones that allow you to print it on pdf format, but it only shows you part of the piece.

I tried downloading the freebees and they were not what I was looking for. I have all the Christmas sheet music I need. There are some public domain but most of it is in S.A.T.B. and few for soloists. According to copyright and right to play, the soloist and the accompanist has to have a piece each. I am a high soprano and much of the stuff is for middle of the road mezzos, so I have to get a piece with at least a few high notes.

I am waiting until she gets back from her vacation and as soon as she has time, we will go downtown and pick up a piece. She lives in the other district of the city, so I might have to find someone close by and we will have to practice at the church.

I could do that. I was thinking of getting a book of sacred music anyway, but do not know if it will be available on Amazon. ca. I was going to order a dvd from Amazon.com but was waiting until March, and the concert is in April, so I will have to go downtown first.

I hope it works out. Some of the best singers in the choir and that includes me, are planning a Singing Workshop to practice when we will be able to sing either solos, trios, or quartets at the concerts.

I really hope it works out for you too. I used to sing in chori in church and school but I am not that good at it. I can sing some songs but not a whole lot. I have a very country voice.

Our Christian bookstore has sacred music, but it is in book form not separate sheets and you can pay for a license but it is not for solo singing, only for congregational singing in your church. So I will have to go downtown, because for some reason, the big businesses do not think anyone in our area can sing. Why they do not have a piano place in our district. So as soon as my friend who is going to help me pick up some good pieces comes back from her vacation, we will go downtown.

Sometimes if it is special concert, our director has a Cd that he sells for the congregation and anyone who would be interested. And we did have a concert in Edmonton where all the choirs from the Prairie Churches sang but there was no soloist there.
Most of the time is when we sing for Christmas and for Easter. I am planning to get some sheet music as soon as the pianist calls me back and we can arrange to go downtown.
