Cyber crime, at my lot or with mylottians

Dear Zass, This is a very pertinent discussion. Thanks for directing me to this. I feel, cyber crime is mostly due to faults on our parts. We all have to be very judicious and careful while letting out personal stuffs on internet. I would blame it more on us than on the criminals. Having said this, there have been instances where inspite of taking measures ppl have been frauded. Coming to myLot, I think its a more decent site than other networking forums like myspace, orkut, Hi5..Here our moves are being monitored if not by the moderators but certainly by other users and they are prompt to report us. (Sometimes mis utilising the feature, but then that's other story altogether....lol) On a whole it has been a very satisfying experience here in myLot. I have loved being part of it. It's appeal however is the friendship network and obviously when you get paid for something you love doing - nothing like it.

I think that as there are unscrupulous people all over the internet, who get into social networking as a way to con people or rip them off so I would assume that at one time or another someone here may have been a cyber victim. As for cyber bullying, we have that here on my lot. It is not as bad as some would make it out to be but it is disruptive to our little community and leaves some members with a bad taste in their mouth. And some people are so put out by the bullying that they are quitting the 'lot. Since cyber bullying is a crime now in the US, I guess it is feasible to say that there has beeen more than a few cyber crimes perpetrated around the lot.

I haven't faced any cybercrime on myLot. But I do have my suspicions of certain people who might use details they get here for the wrong things. I don't know if that can be called cyber crime...it's mostly people being a little open (which can happen anywhere). No one has hacked into my mylot account....and I haven't heard of anyone else's account being hacked either.

I've heard a lot of cyber crime stories. But thank God i'm not one among the victims of cyber crimes. Wherever i have an account i dont talk much to strangers or share my details and picture. So, i havn't got into troubles. :)

Hi, I have never experienced any cyber crime here on mylot of at all. However my mum has experienced it. About 6 months ago now she had $5000 stolen from her bank account by hackers. Luckily the bank reimbursed the money to her later on. The bank told me mum that hackers get in though your emails, so never have email page open and then go and look into your bank account at the same time. The banks also said to help prevent hackers taking your money from your account to copy and paste your username and password from word document when logging onto any sites. As hackers use these special programs that picks up your keystrokes when you type onto the computer, this is how they apparently retreive your password. It is pretty worrying and frustrating that people can invade our privacy so easily and how they can also steal from us too.

I heard about it but thank God i am not ever a victim of any cyber crime. Here in mylot no one ever doing that. We should becareful now a days and don't give your trust to someone that easily.

Hi cupid, I see that this discussion is 4 months old.... I have only heard about cyber crime, but never experienced anything like that. In past I had done lot of chatting but I was always very careful about who were in my friends list. Now I have stopped chatting for last 2 years as it has become the most boring and useless activity for me. Mylot is a very decent website and also well disciplined as mylot has laid down some strict rules and guidelines....here on mylot I have very good and dignified friends and I am proud to have them as my friends. You are one of them dear, so be happy.
