strats versus les paul  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 63/100. MarkHodgetts (128)   ranked 19 out of 296 in playing the guitar 5 years ago

I heard this conversation on an unlikely radio talk show yesterday.

I've owned both guitars and currently still own a Stratocaster.

the Strat is harder to master, but gives a unique sound, best evoked I think by Mark Knopfler's work. Heavier player swho really mad e the strat their own include Ritchie Blackmore and Rory Gallagher.

The Les Paul gives gutsier, meatier sound, Jimmy Page used one, I kind of think that Les Pauls sound all the same, whereas , the Strat allows you to create your own sound.

I'm sure that others have opposite opinions

neither.

The SG is God among guitars.

being a bit dainty, I find the Gibson Scale length much more comfortable, and the action more playable.

I've played Les Pauls, Strats, but my baby is my SG.

I've played both, and I don't think the strat is any harder to master, to me they are both the same!
The only difference is each one has a different sound, and you can change each one to different sounds also!
I pesonally think each guitar has a unique sound, and is unique in the way it plays!
The amp and the guitar work together to make your own unique sound!

I'm with you. Neither is better than the other, just different. Me personally, I like the les paul feel, but the strat sound. I don't own either (too much $$) I have an Ibanez Jetking it's kind of best of both worlds with fewer dollars but more compromises.
