Some good Macaroni and Chesse |
|
What secrets do you have for this I don't want a reciepe, we are not allowed to give recipes, but what do you put in it to make it good? My Siser-in-law makes good dish of this, her key ingredient is Cheddar Chesse and a kind, boy is it good, if you don't know how to make it, It's ok, when was the last time you had some? how about Lasangua, I didn't spell it right, but you know what I am talking about. I am craving for Lasangua now. Ok, one of my specialty in my Macaroni is Carnation Milk, mix it with whole milk. It is so good I made it the other day it was good!~~Thansks~~ M.S.

1. whywiki (2860) | 9 months ago | What a good idea. I have some carnation milk to use up and didn't know what to do with it. I like to add a little nutmeg in my cheese sauce and I usually use up all my bits and pieces of different cheeses to mix it up. I too have been craving lasagna lately. I think that may be a meal this week. I like spinach in my lasagna but hubby hates it, oh to spinach or not!

marciascott (9795) | 9 months ago | Wow, nutmeg? that is different, my cousin uses mustard, just a touch, for color and favorite, I tried it one day it wasn't bad. I half to try nutmeg. Yes Lasagna, muuum!

OreoCookie3 (13888) | 9 months ago | What kind of taste does nutmeg do? And I never heard of mustard in it... is it really good with those ingredients? I should try this maybe.

marciascott (9795) | 9 months ago | Hey Char, It doesn't take that much Mustard just a little bit. It is for color and Flavor. They half to tell you about Nutmeg, tell her Whywiki?

2. Polly1 (6754) | 9 months ago | Lots of cheese and butter, yummy. I just made some the other day when the kids were here. I just made it on the stove, I didn't bake it. I have a big block of cheese and cut some of it in chunks and put that in with some butter and milk and let it melt. The kids were happy. When I make lasagna, I cheat and buy spagetti sauce, I cook my noodles, layer them with sauce, shredded cheese, I also add meat that I put some onion and green pepper in. Oh Lasagna does sound good. After I have it all put together, I bake it until bubbly and hot.

3. estarga (900) | 9 months ago | I also use carnation milk in my Macaroni. I would say my key ingerdient is also using colby cheese. Also using a good brand of cheese never use store brand always go with name brand cheese. Cheap cheese doesn't melt right and contains lots of oil and I use lots of butter so the oil and butter mixed up makes it really greasy and nasty.

marciascott (9795) | 9 months ago | Happy New Year! where have you been I just happen to see you the other day in another discussion, and here you are, isn't that something, I was thinking about you, and here you are! sound good the way you make it! My sister-inlaw uses Cheddar Chesse soup, I meant to put that down, I just said cheddar Chesse, but actually she uses the soup, it is so good you should try it like that. It is good.

OreoCookie3 (13888) | 9 months ago | I like to mix sharp cheddar and Colby together. Colby is nice, but really too mild for my liking, but I do like the texture it gives.. so I will use it in conjunction with cheddar for texture. To me texture is everything to a good meal.

|
marciascott (9795) | 9 months ago | Char, do you use eggs in it, I do. 2 eggs.
| |
|
|
OreoCookie3 (13888) | 9 months ago | Sometimes yes I do.. it holds together a lot better and not just with the cheese... but is more like a casserole. Love it.
| |
|
|
Modestah (7428) | 9 months ago | that is insteresting, I would have never given colby a thought for mac and cheese as to me it tends to be very elastic when melted.

4. Darkwing (5804) | 9 months ago | I always use extra-matured Cheddar in my Macaroni Cheese. I put the macaroni in a heat-proof casserole dish, make the sauce and pour it over, then sprinkle Parmesan on the top, to create a stronger cheese flavour. Then, I'll decorate the top with a few small broccoli fluorettes and hey presto, you have a very tasty, cheesy, macaroni cheese, which also looks pretty and inviting. You could vary that by replacing the broccoli with wedges of tomato, sliced mushrooms, or whatever takes your fancy, or is to hand. I like the sound of Macaroni made with condensed milk. I always used condensed for my Milk Jellies and Custard. It tastes so much better. Brightest Blessings my friend, and now, I must go finish off my dinner, because you've made me mighty hungry!!! lol.

| 6. heyheyuk (2) | 9 months ago | This is going to sound a bit labour intensive but my mother used to sieve the flour when making the sauce from scratch. I don't know if this makes any difference but her Mac and cheese was always very, very good. I mix cheddar and gruyere cheese when making it myself.

7. oneandonemakesix (24154) | 9 months ago | you can actually give recipes in responses, but what I tend ot do with mac and cheese is just add things ot it, like burger, sausage, veggies, cream of mushroom soup and make more of a casserole out of it. Always, or almost always I add more cheese to it, I never go by the box directions, but just add by eye. I also use the off brand/store brands as its way cheaper than the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Mooch

|
|
marciascott (9795) | 9 months ago | I like the Kraft, I use Carnation milk or any can milk with that, My sister uses, cream of Mushroom soup in hers, I thought she was the only one that did that.

8. suspenseful (12757) | 9 months ago | You can give recipes but they have to be part of the discussion, not all the discussion. So I can write a recipe for a cake if I precede it with the reason or if someone asks me about how to make something. So reason. Lasagna was used in Italy as a Sunday dish, and is now served in many places, including restaurants and also when you are on a plane.I make lasagna but not for some time. What I use is cottage cheese, Hunts Spaghetti sauce - the regular kind about two cans and I use the oven-ready Catelli express. I do not use a regular recipe, but do by guess and by golly. What I do is to brown some ground beef in olive oil -1 lb to 2 lb, add garlic, onions, add oregano and sweet basil, a little salt and pepper and the spaghetti sauce. You can use regular tomato sauce but add some Italian seasonings along with it. I then layer it in a lasagna or large oval cake pan, I put the ground beef mixture on the bottom, put on a layer of the lasagna noodles, continue layering the sauce over and put cottage cheese over the last layer and top with cottage cheese, plus a layer of mozerella. I got it off the Catelli box, there is a new one that contains pepperoni.

9. OreoCookie3 (13888) | 9 months ago | I put milk, chunks of sharp cheddar cheese, chunks of ham and stewed tomatoes and peppers. It is so good and eaten like a soup. It's not baked mac and cheese. My dad used to do this when I was a kid and it was my favorite. The sharper the cheese the better. We used Vermont extra sharp cheese.

Yum
