Do you have an account with Cnet.com, stephcjh? They are one and the same. Once you get to the site you should look at the column on the left of the page where you will see "freeware," and you can even refine your search by typing in "Adware" into their search box.

Hi. Yes. I have an account there. I found the adware download but when I press download, nothing happens. It says they will send me an email alert instead. I used to have adware but it wasn't working right so I uninstalled it and wanted to get it back but can't find where to do that and get it to work.

I have my internet setting to allow all cookies. I finally found the download again but it won't update. Every time I try, it says error retrieving update. That is why I deleted it and wanted to download it again but I still get the error message. I have internet explorer.

I think I know what your problem might be, stephcjh. Open your tools link at the top of your browser, select "content," try the advanced options where it says cookies, and add "allow cookies" from Cnet.com and Download.com. It will depend on the browser you use(I use Mozilla Firefox), but I think you would go to Internet Options in IE7.

I think what your problem may be is the download starts from a pop-up - I had this problem in the past. I use Win XP and what I had to do was go into the tools and turn off the pop-up blocker until I downloaded.

Hi. I finally got the download button to work. The problem I was having that made me uninstall and want to reinstall was that I cannot retrieve the updates. I reinstalled and when I check for updates, I get an error saying that there is an error retrieving the updates. I don't know what is wrong.

Hi. I finally found the link for the download to actually work but when I go to update my defintion file, it says error retrieving the update. That is why I uninstalled it and needed to reinstall to begin with, but I am still getting the errors.

Why don't you check out lavasoft's help center. Maybe there is a patch or another file you need to fix your problem instead of attempting to uninstall and reinstall. If could be another file on your computer that you share with that program that is damaged, and all you are doing is running in circles.
Adaware is a great program, I'd try to figure out the problem before you abandon it.

Personally I do not use spyware protection. I just avoid possibly malicious sites and scan my computer for spyware from time to time using e.g. Spybot - link: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
