Are there new rules for drivers in Britain? | | | | I have lost count of the amount of times I have almost been run over in the past twelve months. I had this idea that if a car was going to turn a corner it would signal so on a number of occassions I have begun to cross a side road, chacking that none of the traffic was signalling to turn, only to be almost run over by a motorist who had not bothered to signal. I have also been quite happily walking on the pavement and vans have just driven right in fron of me, no signals and sometimes they don't even slow down. Have the rules changed, can each driver just drive where they want to without signalling or have drivers just got worse and more selfish over the years? | | | | | | | | | | CDL Truck Driver Jobs Hiring Inexperienced& Experienced Drivers. | | I passed my driving test in February so these 'new rules' must have come up after that. ;) I know exactly what you mean, please be reassured that not all drivers are incosiderate arrogant road hogging people. I make sure I indicate, even if there's no-one else around! I know amazing isn't it? I don't see why people don't indicate, it's not difficult, it's a matter of just flicking a switch, unfortunately (I know because I've been round that area) in the bit where you live no-one has any consideration for anyone else from what I can tell, it's not just going on round there though, I have noticed it in a few other places but it does seem to be rife by you. Maybe it's because the people are driving round the estates and not on widely used roads and therefore think that they don't need to indicate or drive sensibly as they know there's not likely to be any police round there and that it's highly unlikely they'd get caught and charged with inconsiderate driving. My advice to you is that you take down the make and model of the car (if you know it), the colour of the car AND the number plate, obviously the number plate would be the most helpful to the police, it might be a good idea for you to make a sort of diary about it, put down what date and what time and what area they were in and hopefully something will be done about it. (obviously you'd need to submit your diary to the Ministry of Road Transport or to the police when it's full) | | | | | | | dorypanda (1092)

| | AS for the van thing, if there's a name of a company on the side of the van, write to or ring that company and make a complaint, remember van drivers NEED their licences or they can't do that job. | | | | | | | CDL Truck Driver Jobs Hiring Inexperienced & Experienced Drivers. | | I have wondered about that. There is a particular junction which is dangerous anyway so you really need to signal properly on it but most people don't. If they go right then left, they thinkk it's straight on so don't signal even though they should because it is two seperate corners and not a straight forward crossroad. I've even been crossing at traffic lights before, thinking that when the green man is up, that I can cross and then one car went straight past, the next did an emergency stop when they saw me and then a third went right into the back of the second. This was all because one person didn't pay attention to the lights and two others followed like sheep rather than doing what they are supposed to. There are some people who still drive ok but it is really frustrating that I failed my driving test (partly because of another "competent" driver not signalling correctly) and even on my test I was driving better than some people who have been driving for years! | | | | | | | | | | Golf Drivers Buy Top Rated Name Brand Drivers. www.Golfsmith.com/Drivers | add comment | | | |

| | Just people who are too busy thinking about themselves, it's sort of a shame no-one has been run over, cos then the drivers might learn their lesson, but it would be best if they could learn without having to have an accident, I slow down if someone hasn't signalled as they go round a corner when I'm crossing a road or if I'm on a crossing and a car is almost on top of me. | | | | | | | | | | Driving Schools Find Driving Schools Here at Local.com! www.local.com | add comment | | | |

| | I live in Indiana in the USA, so I have no idea about British laws, but I doubt if anything has changed beyond people becoming more self-centered--and some even getting some kind of thrill out of playing this kind of chicken game. I have this friend who won't use a car any more than he has to and goes about everywhere on a ten-speed bike. So Paul was the person I consulted when I began to notice something happening over and over with these ten-speed bikes around the Ball State University campus (and I'd later notice this on the Indiana University campus as well). I would be walking on the sidewalk when somebody on a ten-speed bike would just come up to me and come just short of running right into me before cutting around me instead. I've seen this kind of behavior exhibited by kids on skateboards--which is why they've been banned from going down the sidewalks on them. Anyway, what I asked Paul was if he had trouble stopping or slowing down when riding his ten-speed bike, and he told me he didn't and then asked me what gave me an idea like that. I told him about the bikers speeding along the sidewalks, and he let me know that this had absolutely nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with the biker--who was being RUDE!!! And some of these wheeled imps even admit as much--like somebody being interviewed about his inline skating on the campus of Anderson University. He said that he would intentionally come close to running into people and then whizzing around them instead because he liked to see their reactions. His name, location, and everything--which, of course, included his confesstion--was right in the paper, so the police should have come to his house and arrested him--but I doubt if they ever did! | | | | | | | | | | Callaway Golf Pre-Owned Official Callaway Pre-Owned Site.
