How do you get your ribbon to stay on your pages? |
| |
| I normally use sticky tabs for pictures and stuff, but some of the ribbons I have are thin or see-through, and I can't use those. What do you use? | | | | | |

| | I use small amounts of the same glue I use to secure my photos and embellishments. Once it dries it's clear and I've always had good luck with this method. | | | | | | |

| | I like to use my Tombo Mono adhesive or API's Crafter's Pick - The Ultimate (it dries clear as well). In a pinch I will also use my Zig glue, but that one can be kind of messy. | | | | | | |

| | Have you tried frosted photo splits? Creative Memories produces them for use under vellum. They might just give you the result you're looking for without the mess of glue. | | | | | | |

| | Hi dopey22girl, Wish I knew your first name. Dopey girl doesn't seem to apply. However, I use double sided sticky tape, either fat or thin in width, and do the whole length of the ribbon in one go. On the other hand, I also have a small Xyron machine which is hand held and run my ribbon through that which gives a sticky adhesive to your ribbon. I don't find that you can see any glue or tape on either method. Good fun trying though. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Razybabe - where did you get your Xyron machine? It sounds like a fantastic little piece of equipment. I'm a big fan of anything that makes the job more professional! | | | |

| | I usually use glue as this dries clear and is not noticable at all. It secures it very well also. | | | | | | |

| | Hi there, what i really enjoy using is Glossy Accent by Ranger. It is this really strong glue that sticks buttons very easily and very well. Also, some strong koyuko tape dotliner glue works wonders. sometimes I just stick a strip on a page and lay the ribbon on top and it sticks like magic. you can also try burning the edge of the ribbon so that it does not fray. I love using ribbons! especially the lace yarn types! | | | | | | |

| | Like someone else said... I run it through the Xyron. This can make ANYTHING a "sticker". Another technique I use is a glue called "Clear Glass" by Close to My Heart. This is great to use for anything see-through or fragile, that you might not want to put through a machine. It is wonderful to apply clear acrylic embellishments to a page, as well. Just make sure that once it dries, you "clean up" the outer edge, as some glue may ooze out, and you want it to look as professional as possible, right? You can find this glue either on e-bay or search for Close to My Heart (CTMH) on the web. Their website can put you in touch with a representative, or e-mail me, and I'll get you in touch with mine... (No... I don't sell it OR get anything in return.) One more fun thing to do, especially to add more dimension and creativity is to stitch the ribbon to your background paper with your sewing machine or using a cool funky embroidery stitch. It may take a little more time, but it really makes your pages "pop." Good luck! | | | | | | |

| | OK! I just got back from the Scrapbook EXPO. I was hesitant to purchase "red tape" but have been seeing it pop up EVERYWHERE. And so... I saw a demonstration on it. It comes in different thicknesses, is double-sided, and adheres to every surface type. It is extra strong, and is excellent for metal embellishments and ribbons that nothing else will hold... Whew! I hope I didn't sound like a commercial. I was just extremely impressed. You gotta try it! I bought some and am in "love!!!" | | | |

| | If the ribbon is see through perhaps trying to use a vellum specific adhesive would work. Or you could thread it through the paper. | | | | | | |

| | hello, i like to use my double sided adhesive on my ribbons, rather it be tombow or darice or another brand.. i have used pretty much all of them and have no complaints except the miss elizabeth ones for $1 they seem to not hold well. i make a lot of paper bag books and sell on ebay. i used different methods of attaching my ribbons, not all are taped down so to speak. some i attach the end of the ribbon to the back side of my page and bring around to the front leaving it loose and loopy then i attach the other end to the bottom of the backside of my page, then go back and cut the loopy part tie it and leave it loose on the page so when my buyers put their pictures in they can slide right under it. you can also tie charms in your tie part of the ribbon at that point to. hope that helps donna | | | | | | |

| | I use glue dots for my ribbon. The pack I bought came in a ton of different sizes, so it worked great with my "skinny ribbon". I love them, I got them on qvc.com but I'm sure they have them at craft places. | | | | | | |
