I keep hearing from the left that they cannot understand why we as Conservatives have a problem with McCain. So I will explain where the Conservatives are coming from.
Look everyone we tell you that the problems with McCain is that he works with the Democrats to get bills past. The problem is with that argument is for the most part like it or not you need some Democrats to get bills past. Here is the problem, he would side with the Democrats side over the Republican side, and help to get there bills past. Let me explain it like this, a Democrat senator constantly sided with the Republicans to create bills that the Republican wanted. I can hear it now all the liberal would be calling him a sellout. Bipartisanship in this country only work one way, Republicans siding with the Democrats, and that is what McCain represents. Also everytime when he join with one of the most liberal senators in the congress, he goes out of his way to find a reporter, and have a press conference. Look at what happen to Liberman his only sin against the Democrat party is that he supported the war in Iraq. You all dumped him like a bag of trash. Yes he won re-election but he had to do it as an Independent. Zel Miller supported Bush's Tax cuts and he was branded as a traitor. Look I know what might help you, let me explain it like this: A Democrat senator who always goes out over his way to side with the Republican. His vote for taxes cut, he vote for drilling for oil in Alaska, and votes against global warming legislation what would you do as a Democrat. Just to make matters worse he goes on to FOX news and puts down Democrat leadership. So in closing when you read me and my fellow Conservatives complaining about McCain think about that.

Obviously the Conservatives don't have TOO much of a problem with McCain since he is going to be the presidential canidate for the Republican party. I do understand where you are coming from, and I don't personally care for McCain. I have to say, this is a really scary election year.

While I do understand your point I have to disagree. I think that votes show where people stand. Maybe the Republican party isn't as conservative as I would be lead to believe, and that is where all the votes for McCain are coming from. But, the way I see it, if McCain keeps getting votes the way he does the people are saying that they don't have a problem with him by supporting him. I'm just saying that if there were truely that big of an issue with McCain and how conservative he is I would have expected to see it coming out in the voting a little bit more.

I was a huge Romney fan and I was shocked to see how poorley he did on super tuesday. I am not a McCain fain at all but I definately like him better than the alternative of having Hillary or Obama in office. I am an American and I will support who ever wins the Presidental Vote but I am not excited about any of the options out there.

I am a Reaganite Conservative. My biggest problem with McCain is hypocrisy. He stands strong on the War on Terror, but won't secure our borders, and in fact is a fan of amnesty.
I do agree that in order to pass bills, one must work with the opposite party, however, too often McCain has not only worked with them, but authored and sponsored bills with them. The specific bills he has authored are against everything a conservative stands for. McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance, McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill.

First, as a Democrat I'll address the issues with Joe Lieberman and Zel Miller; I supported the former when he was Al Gore's running mate in 2000 and I now must ask myself why and the latter is obviously unstable to the point that he challenged Chris Matthews to a duel on national TV a few years ago! There are numerous Democrats who reach across the aisle now and then and who aren't for every policy the party as a whole embraces. My question to you is, if so many of you are so unhappy with McCain how in the world did he get the nomination? I hate to break it to conservatives but if you don't feel McCain is conservative enough I guess the country isn't leaning nearly as much to the right as you'd like to believe. I might add that while I'm no supporter of McCain by any means the things you can't stand about him are his only redeeming qualities as far as I'm concerned. All in all he's still WAY too conservative for me.
