Old Barn wood  email this discussion to a friend?

Someone I know is tearing down an old barn. I paint windows so he rescued some of the four pane ones for me to paint and sell on my crafts sales. Yesterday he brought me some old barn wood...siding with just touches of red paint on them. I was thinking of having him do some frames and I could put one of my poems in them. He builds bird houses out of them. Do any of you have any ideas for what I could do with the wood beside picture frames?

Have you thought about making yourself a small, wooden box to store your cards, etc. and keep them protected?

I use plastic bins to store my sample crafts or completed projects until they are sold or go with me to a craft fair. Since I have various craft sizes, I use all different sizes and shapes of bins.

So far I keep them in plastic containers with lids so the moisture doesn't get to them...I have to seal almost everything as sometimes when I go to a festival the humidity effects what I bring! Almost everything I sell is paper....books, cards..poetry! Even the poems sometimes that are framed get moisture in them and I have to redo them...

I sure understand about the humidity. Missouri is terrible in the summer. Can't breathe! Guess my idea was a dud....lol Sorry but I can't think of anything exciting to use with wood.

This looks like a very difficult project but the finished product is gorgeous.

I'm not sure quite what it looks like, but it could be like a faux fence, either along the bottom of a wall, or on the wall. Maybe attach something on the wood to make it like message board. I don't have very many good ideas, but it sounds really cool. I hope you have fun deciding what to do with it.

I love the idea of bird houses, those would look great! Or how about a stool, or bench? You could paint the back with a little design of some sort. Or how about shelves? Again, you could put a little accent paint on them to decorate them a bit.

Good luck and have fun!

I really like the bench idea! And I do decorative painting! They would really be cute!
