What're your thoughts on Judge Judy?

Being an Aussie, my understanding of the United States legal system both begins and ends with Judge Judy. And while I realise that the show would be an absolute ratings disaster if she wasn't the harsh purvayor of guilt trips and financial penalties, I nonetheless feel that she can be a little too harsh in her personal attacks every now and then. While I understand that she doesn't like to be lied to, talked over or disrespected in any way, it does seem that her critique regarding the intelligence levels of many of the people brought before her occassionally crosses the line of what is really acceptable of someone in her position. Having said that, though, she'd definitely scare me straight!!

Hi, Louie, been out of the loop for a while. You hit on one of my favorite personalities while I was away so I just had to comment. Judge Judy is totally awesome! She is a no-nonsense type of gal who is tough as nails when she has to be and as gentle as a lamb otherwise. I do not believe she hypes it up for the cameras; she has had too many years on the bench for that. She just does what she does and she is just what you see. I love her but would only agree to be on the show as part of the audience; I too would tremble before the great and mighty Judge Judy. Judge Judy for president, she's awesome!

Sometimes I think she is quite rude, after all she is sort of a public servant in a way I think she should be a little bit nicer, but then I guess it wouldn't rate very well without her input to the entertainment....you do have to laugh sometimes...

I think she is really tough in the courtroom but I also see her being very strict with her children or other tough people she may come into contact with outside of the courtroom as well. I like her show alot of times but she can be rude to some people who I think truly do not deserve to be talked to that way. She can get on my nerves at times also because she can be so rude to people even when they have it coming. She demeans them and I really don't think it will help that person to change for the better in the long run.
