Thanks for sharing your story! Wow, that's very cute that you proposed to him! I think that's very special that you got him an engagement ring too. When my fiance and I were first dating, we each got one another a promise ring, so I'd gotten him a ring also. We wore them on our ring fingers also. He still wears his, but now I have my engagement ring. I wear my promise ring on the other hand. It's like by doing that everyone knew we were "taken." (LOL) I knew about your husband's death from another discussion, but I'm really glad you have so many wonderful memories you can look back on and share! You also had 27 wonderful years with your sweet hubby. He was a lucky man to have you! Thank you for the congrats, encouragement, and for sharing the memories of you and your husband's wonderful life together! By the way, you and I are only an hour and a half apart! (I'm 20 minutes north of Detroit.) The funny thing is, you're only a half hour further away than my fiance and I are from each other! It's great to hear from you, my friend.

I really hope everything works out and goes smoothly for the wedding, and then everything else that goes with marriage. Thanks for the compliments also. You almost made me blush! (LOL) Your healthy jealousy is appreciated. I know that perfect woman is out there waiting for you also. It's all a matter of finding her and if you're interested or not! (Judging by your "healthy jealousy" in this case, I'm assuming the answer to that would be a "yes"!) Your response, like all the others, gave me quite a chuckle again today. How sweet! I love your story! My fiance was quite shy and speechless also, which sounds just like your husband at the time! Congrats on your four years of being together. I'm sure that's difficult being away from each other with him being overseas. I'm so excited to hear that you'll be renewing your vows this June! PLEASE tell me about it, ok? I'd love to hear about how it turns out. That's sounds so wonderful! I'm glad you get to have a "real" wedding now with all of the fun stuff to go with it. I'm glad you and your husband are together. I'm looking forward to the wedding very much, but I want to enjoy the time being engaged also. That's some excellent advice I received from another friend. The wedding should be a fun thing to plan. My fiance is such a sweetheart and makes life so worth it. Of course, he's so supportive of my "myLot life," as I like to call it too. He thinks it's great that I have something I enjoy doing on the side while earning a little bit of extra cash also! That definitely means he's a keeper! Thanks again!!

Thanks, Trans! I definitely will take your suggestions. I really do want to know what my fiance wants as far as the wedding is concerned. He's got some great ideas and pretty good taste. The cheesy ones I won't keep, though, (LOL) but the good ones I'll take to heart. He's pretty much ok with whatever I want. He knows he doesn't have much say since it's my day anyway, but I listen to whatever suggestions he makes. I mean, for crying out loud, he should at least be able to choose what color tux he wants to wear, right? (LOL) Maybe not...I think we're both agreed on that one, actually. By the way, I really appreciate your suggestion as far as outside pressure goes. There's so much drama going on right now, especially in my family. It's a mess. I'm just trying to stay out of it, but it's like everyone wants something else. I can go pleasing everybody. That's just a fact of life. I really admire that suggestion you made and will be keeping that one at my fingertips. Thanks again, my friend, and I'll keep all my friends posted on how the wedding plans go!

Thanks so much! I'm glad you reiterated what Trans said because that's the point he made that I loved the most. I know it might sound selfish, but on my special day, it's really important that I get what I want! I agree with what you said about the money factor, though. I'm all about cutting corners trying to save my parents and grandparents money even though I'm not paying for the majority of the wedding. It'll still be nice, though. For instance, my fiance's mom's friend is actually doing our cake for us as a wedding gift. All we have to pay for is the supplies. She's going to back it and decorate it herself. How nice! My fiance is such a sweetie in that he's very aware of the fact that it's my day. He's ready and more than willing to help in whatever I need for this wedding. He wants to make it so special for me. I hear so many times about brides and their fiances giving them all this junk about not wanting to help and wanting the bride to do it all herself "so she can have it the way she wants it." I don't think that's fair because it's a time for the couple to grow even closer together doing something they will both benefit from. Thanks so much for your wonderful wishes, my friend! By the way, I'm glad you like my happy discussion! I prefer it that way. :)

I wish all of my myLot friends could come. That would make it so special to meet everyone and everyone could meet each other. I plan to make that dream a reality as much as possible, just so you know! To tell you the truth, I've never heard of a groom's cake or a honeymoon cake, but I think it's a great idea! My fiance's favorite is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I would have to get that kind for him. I'll let you know about that as it gets closer, though! I just might take you up on your offer if it's at all possible. That would be so special and mean so much to me! I'm very much looking forward to the planning part. I know I will also have my fiance's help. He's such a trooper. (LOL) Thank you for your suggestions and advice. I'm glad my fiance is a romantic person. It'll definitely come in handy when we're married! (LOL) By the way, I like your answer about length of engagement. It's all a matter of what the couple can handle and how long they need to plan a wedding. I hope you get to go on a horse-drawn carriage ride sometime. It was so nice for our engagement because it was really private and romantic all at the same time. It's not like we were in front of all these people. It's the only way I would've had it because my fiance is really shy and I couldn't see him standing up in the middle of a restaurant to announce that we just got engaged! (That would be quite embarrassing for me also.) Anyway, thank you so much for your kind wishes! I will be keeping everyone in the know on this special event.

Thanks for the congrats! I'm so glad you've been to Frankenmuth before. How neat it must've been to go to a wedding there too! There's no place like it. It's really unique and that's what I love about that town. It makes me so happy that you've been there before since you know exactly what I'm talking about! I think you and your husband's engagement sounds very romantic! I knew my fiance would come up with something really special, but I'd also would've loved to get engaged on the beach. Of course, here in Michigan, there really are no beaches and no ocean, so that would've been difficult. I could always get married on the beach! I'm so happy for you and your husband. Thanks for sharing your story with me!

Our wedding will be pretty large. We both have large families and separate churches, so everyone will be invited to the wedding. We'll also be having the reception more than likely at my church where we will be married. I don't think there will be room for the 400 or 500 people attending to also be at the reception, but at least that way we won't have to reserve an expensive banquet hall to have the reception. We'll also be able to do the decorating ourselves.

Thanks a bunch! I thought it was pretty romantic myself, but I also think it's really neat how you would like to be proposed to! Live TV would definitely be a moment to remember. I know what you mean about being emotional and crying too. When my fiance got down on one knee, I was nervous for him because he looked so nervous even though I was definitely going to say yes! I also teared up a bit when he read the sweet poem to me. I still couldn't believe it was all happening just then. They were mostly tears of joy, of course. It still seems so good to be true.
