Should I sell Silpada jewelry on ebay? Have you ever heard of it? |
| |
| I'm a Trading Assistant on ebay and sell things for other people for a percentage of the selling price. I do all the work and they get the money...lol. This morning I got an email from a woman saying she is a Silpada Jewelry rep. and gets a lot of their jewelry free but would rather have the money and wants me to sell it on ebay for her. I did some research on it and noticed that some items sell really well while others don't. I also found some conflicting reviews when I googled Silpada. Some were really good and others called it gaudy and junk jewelry. Have you heard of Silpada? Do you have any experience with it or know anyone who has? I have a good reputation on ebay and don't want to ruin it after all these years! | | Good stuff or junk? | | | | |

| | To begin, ctry, I have absolutely no experience with ebay. My advice to you, however, is to maybe try it on a limited basis. If you could possibly contract with her to do a few pieces then you would get an idea of how well they will sell. That way you won't be obligated if the items don't sell well. | | | | | | |

| | Until I see that the jewelry will sell that is definitely the way I will do it. Personally I have never heard the name but then I'm not a "jewelry" person any way. | | | |

| | It is good that you are checking into it first. Silpada Designs Representatives are prohibited by contract from selling on eBay. The Representative you work with to sell on eBay risks immediate termination of her contract and possible Breach of Contract legal action. I would suggest you only sell the items of a retired Rep or a Silpada customer. | | | |

| | Silpada is great jewelry but Silpada reps are not allowed to sell on ebay. They can't sell thru a trading assistant either so it would be breaking the rules and Silpada is starting to really crack down on this type of selling. | | | |

| | I have never heard of this kind of jewelry. I don't know what to tell you about selling it on ebay. If the jewelry is junk and you are the seller, then you could get a bad report from a buyer, right? I would beware and maybe sell stuff you know more about. What do you think? A reputation is hard to come by and one or two bad sales could cause you to have a poor rep...so I would be careful myself, if I were you. | | | | | | |

| | In my research on ebay I found a few people who are selling it but yes my reputation on ebay means a lot to me since I've been selling on there for years. | | | |

| | I haven't heard of it, but if you are researching and seeing a lot of bad reviews, I'd not take the chance. Something like that I'd want to handle and see with my own eyes first. What other things have you sold as a Trading assistant? | | | | | | |

| | It's funny because the reviews I find on the internet say junk but the pieces sold on ebay that I've seen have gone for some pretty good money. I guess there are some people who like the stuff. | | | |

| | I have just googled it too and the pictures that I saw of the jewelry are lovely, and are something that I would wear myself. It definitely didnt look gaudy!!! But hey, each to their own.... If you like it and think others will like it then go for it. Try a couple of pieces and if it doesnt sell then leave it.... :-) | | | | | | |

| | I thought most of the pieces I saw were nice too but then there were some written reviews that didn't sound too good. I guess I'll try a couple of pieces to see how it goes. | | | |

| | I guess it is one of those "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" type of situations. Do you actaully get to handle the pieces and photograph them yourself before posting them? then you would have a chance to evaluate it yourself. I think I would try a few pieces and see how it does. As long as you have good pictures and an accurate description of the jewelry (type of metal, stones, etc) I don't think anyone could fault you for selling it. | | | | | | |

| | Yes beauty sure is in the eye of the beholder because although I read bad reviews some pieces sold for a good amount of money on ebay. I do have to have the items I'm selling in my posession before I will sell them. Otherwise I could get screwe#! | | | |

| | I never heard of Silpada Jewely. I don't understand why would this individual want you to sell it when she can sell it herself. I guess I am a little to distrusting. I probably would not sell it without a lot of research on this product and the Jewelry Rep. | | | | | | |

| | I'm very mistrusting of her at this point if it even IS a her. Supposedly she is a Silpada rep and gets some of the jewelry free but she wants the money. She also lives in a different state than I do which bothers me. The thing of it is that I have to have the jewelry in my posession before I would list it on ebay. I also have a contract that she needs to sign so I sent her my fees and will wait to hear from her. | | | |

| | Well if she is a rep then she has already signed an agreement to not sell the prodcut under or over a certain price. Which means she is not suppose to auction it, however it doesn't mean she can't commission someone else to sell it on Ebay. You are not a Silpada rep and have not signed the agreement therefore you technically could auction it on Ebay without breaking any contract. But you could be in violation of that companies exclusiveity clause. Which could turn into a VERO complaint and the auctions could be pulled. JMO | | | |

| | I have never heard of them. I will say this one or two auctions from her stuff won't hurt you. It would get you a different market of buyers as well. I am going to check the site. I would love to sell that on etsy as home made if possible. | | | | | | |

| | I have never heard of it myself. I can just say go with your gut instincts. I considered doing what you are doing several years ago - but I would have too many restrictions as to the content of what is being sold that I am afraid many people would not be interested in going through me. I did sell a rolling pin for a friend though - and it sold for 1140.11 can you believe it? she gave me the listing and final value fees plus 10% - so not too bad for my few minutes of effort, eh? | | | | | | |

| | I've heard of Silpada before. They're a direct selling company (like Avon is). A lot of people are probably already selling this stuff on eBay, so it would be hard to make much of a profit off of it. That happens with a lot of direct selling companies. | | | | | | |
