What is your pet and what food do you give your pet? |
Hi I have two kitten, one is brown striped and the other is black with little patches of white here and there. I give milk and cat food whiskas or IAM food, whatever I get in the market, to the kitten. Their names are PAPA and KANNA. What pet do you have and what food do you give it?

2. sedel1027 (12396) | 2 years ago | We have 2 lovebirds (who get a lovebird seed blend and fresh fruits/veggies), 2 cats (wet & dry Nutro Naturals), and 3 fish tanks (Tetra Color Flakes)
FYI you shouldn't give you cats milk. Cats are actually lactose intolerant.
| |
| |
Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | Actually I was giving curd rice to one of them. It developed stomach upset. Then Vet Doctor told me about this lactose problem. But they want milk and doctor said I can give as secondary food. Main food is cat food only.
| |
sedel1027 (12396) | 2 years ago | Milk can make them even sicker. It too has lactose in it. If you have to give you cats milk (and there really is no reason to) buy them cat milk. It is all junk food for them either way but at least the cat milk is formulated for them.

Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | Hi I never saw any cat milk here. However I will enquire about it. Thanks for the advice.

3. stephcjh (22409) | 2 years ago | I have a Pomeranian and he won't eat dog food so he eats whatever we eat. I know it isn't recommended but I can't let him go without eating. I am concerned with the dog food recalls anyway.
| |
| |
Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | You mean even hot stuff spicy stuff and all it eats is it? Even my cat wants milk. But it has lactose allergy. So I give milk little little with vet doctor's advice and main food is cat food only.
| |
stephcjh (22409) | 2 years ago | Yep. He likes just about everything we eat. The vet recommends dog food but he won't eat it at all so I have to feed him something. He does like treats and chew bones so that is one good thing.

6. Annmac (789) | 2 years ago | 1 dog, 2 cats, 5 frogs, 6 shrimps and 50+ fish. All are fed the most natural diets possible. The cats and dog get raw meat, offal and bones, a few vegetables, eggs and sometimes a treat of goats milk (doesn't contain as much lactose as cows milk which cats are often intolerant of) An adult animal doesn't really need to have milk but if you do give it remember it is food rather than a drink. My frogs are fully aquatic and are normally fed on live or frozen blood worm, though sometimes they'll eat brine shrimp. The fish are fed on a variety of live or frozen foods, blood worm, brine shrimp, daphnia and insect larvae. They also get frozen peas, and cucumber. I rarely use 'processed' pet foods apart from when away from home and then I use natures menu which although expensive is as near as I can get to their normal diet. I don't like the amount of cereals or the amount of vegetable protein that pet foods contain and I try to avoid chemical colourings and preservatives.

| |
Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | Hi, I never knew fish eat cucumber and peas. However, tell me something about cat food. I am giving cat food like whiskas or IAM, sometimes cow/buffaloe milk that I get from diary. Earlier it was eating egg's yellow substance. Now it stopped. I do not know what else to give.
| |
Annmac (789) | 2 years ago | Not all the fish like cucumber but frozen peas squeezed out of the tough outer skin are 'fought' over by them all. As they can help prevent or cure constipation they are a weekly treat. As for cat foods, I've never used Iams, though previous cats have liked Whiskas. I lost one cat and nearly lost a second to Kidney disease so I don't feed dry food only any more! I used to use Royal Canin Feline. Since all the scares and recalls I've stuck with 'natural' feeding and one of my cats is a very healthy and lively 16! I think you just need to read the labels and make sure that what you are feeding contains real meat as the main ingredient! Try looking up pet food analysis on the net and look for a site not sponsored by a particular brand. They will be the best to give an unbiased report on the brands you use.

7. ericajoyce (1641) | 2 years ago | Hello buchi_bulla. I have 5 dogs, 5 cats, 3 fishes and 3 birds. I give my dogs leftovers and dog food. My cats I give them leftovers too, but the siamese cat we give her friskies. The birds I fed them with bird seeds and my fishes fish food.

Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | Hi you have siamese cat is it? Let me see whether you have it's photo in your profile. My cat is choosy. It eats only cat food and rarely milk.

ericajoyce (1641) | 2 years ago | I dont have her picture on my profile. Sometimes, our siamese cat gets picky too. There are times that she doesn't even finish her food or she looses her appetite.

8. Loen210 (573) | 2 years ago | Oh, I just read your discussion. What an adorable photo! So cute and beautiful of your cat.
We only gave brand name cat food before the internet came out and I found out how it is not good to. They have by-products and can often be bad nutritionally. But some cats still live well on it. We switched off of Friskies forever.
We get several different kinds of cat food now, adn rotate. Dry cat food, canned food, and pouches, but all natural brands. If you do a search online for Natural Cat Food, you'll find many.
- WELLNESS is one we get a lot. - SOLID GOLD (it's pricey, but good) - PETGUARD - NATURE'S RECIPE - MERCK
And some others in bouts. My cats are really picky too! And yes, we do treat them to human food (usually meet) often, but then give less cat food at those meals. Good luck@

Buchi_bulla (2064) | 2 years ago | Thanks for the guidance. We are vegetarians. That is the problem I get cat food Whiskas and IAMS. My cats are not eating natural food like egg, other veg items like dosa, milk rice etc. What to give is a confusion for me. Only whiskas and Iams, I am giving. They drink milk sometimes. I will do internet search. But they will give items that are available abroad. That is the problem.

Loen210 (573) | 2 years ago | Hi, I don't give 'natural' as in giving them raw human food. But I did a lot of research. One way to check out some that exist are to visit some pet store sites that sell natural cat food. Usually, they show ingredients, which is important to see.
The last place I bought from when in bulk (but not much anymore, as my kitties have gotten so darn picky, ha!). But is: PetFoodDirect.com (I promise I am not an advertiser).
On homepage, under CATS picture, you can click on "Natural Cat Food" and it lists a whole bunch they sell.

Buchi_bulla (2064) | 1 year ago | I am in India and I have to see a shop nearby. That will be convenient for me. However two shops are there in nearby places and my daughter is bringing the needs. Thanks for the suggestion.
