I dont know whats actually in manhattan. But NYC in general I think Id definately take the time to go see the statue of liberty. Thats one thing I do wanna see sometime in my lifetime. Its kinda said Im only like 2 hours or so away from there and never got the chance to go yet.

YEAH, I'm only 5-6 hours away. I've driven past and seen the skyline at night (on my way to Philly) but never been in the city.

I would say take a short cruise and go see the Statue Of Liberty, when you get back to Manhattan visit China Town and Little Italy, stop at the Empire State Building, go upstairs to the top observation deck and you can see the whole city, then go over to Rockefeller Center - great site seeing area, then visit Broadway and Times Square. You will really have a great 5 hours.

That sounds like something I'd have fun doing. I'd probably say to heck w/ the 5 hour schedule and make it a day though. Sounds like a blast!:)

I would probably see a Broadway show and have dinner in a really nice restaurant. I've seen all the toursity things in NY many times and can't think of any that I'd jump at the chance to go back to. But, I love theater and I love food!

myLot reputation of 95/100. Carmetaf (150)   ranked 8 out of 94 in new york  2 years ago

Hmm sounds really good...I'd have a hard time choosing which restaurant. What kind of clothing do u wear to a Broadway show? Does it depend on what the subject matter is?

myLot reputation of 94/100. dfn12968 (5538)  2 years ago

I think it depends on many things. The time of day you go, who you're with, the type of show, where you're going to eat, etc.

Basically, if you're going to a matinee, like on a Saturday or Sunday, casual clothes are usually okay, but an evening show, especially on opening night, is much more formal.

Doing all of these would take longer than 5 hours, but here's some of the things I'd like to do:
-Stroll through Central Park
-See a Broadway show (I'm normally not a fan, but I might as well see one on the actual Broadway!)
-Attend a talk show taping
-Visit the World Trade Center site, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty

I'd also set aside time to eat at a fancy restaurant and maybe go shopping.

I would spend the 5 hours taking the long route and driving around Manhattan (in other words, I would drive further to avoid driving thru NYC) We went through a few years ago on a business trip and we vowed "Never Again".

Sorry Carmeta!

Shopping. Forget all that tourist stuff. I was born and raised in the Bronx!!! First off I'm in the village for clothes, couple down low sneaker spots. Maybe 34th street. 42nd. Have to stop and get a hot pretzel with mustard (or 7). I could do all that in a few hours and still head Uptown to Sylvia's for a meal.

Wholesale district too, and then make all that money back!

I would want to go see a Broadway play.I have seen many plays when they come here to Rhode Island but it isn't the same as seeing them on Broadway.I would also have to visit the Saint Patrick's cathedral I hear it is very beautiful.I am not much of a church goer but I find being in a church very relaxing.

Since I grew up in NYC and only moved away in my late 30's, I love many parts, but Broadway and Times Square area, plus Greenwich Village are my faves. I used to study with the Joffrey Ballet, so spent a lot of time in the Village.
Central Park is nice, too, but now that I live in the country, I get more green these days! But I do wubNY!
