Arkaf has a boo-boo...... | | | | After quite a few.. ok a lot:) very mild winters we are finally getting all the snow we missed in past years coming down at one time. THe ones who know me know I'm snow's number 1 fan LOL but even the people that keep wishing for snow each year are saying that we've had a lot since last month. ANother snowstorm hit us yesterday - or rather it all started the previous night, but it was yesterday morning that things were really crazy with all the snow. To be fair, by the time I left for work, the streets were not too bad anymore, however all the snow has to be pushed into somewhere, and of course as usual it is to the curb. So you're walking fine on the sidewalk, and walking fine on the street itself, but the transition from one to the other can be tricky due to the "Mountains" of snow in between each one of them. Sometimes a gentle soul makes a nice neath - narrow:) - path from street to sidewalk, but mostly the idea is just to grab your climbing gear and climb it because it's there hehehehe A keen eye is needed to see the footprints left by other brave men and woman since it's easier to step on the same places. But it's not alway so. That's what happened to me yesterday. I got off the streetcar and was faced with a huge= and continuous - snow mountain range that was between me and the sidewalk I needed. SLowly putting my feet where others had cut a bit of a path I moved inch by inch until what looked like a solip place for my foot gave in and I fell. Well not exactly fell, more like my foot went under me in a twisted position. It didn't hurt much at first, but as the day progressed= and I kept walking back and forth as usual - it started hurting a lot. I also felt it swelling and was even afraid of taking my boot to check because I feared I might not be able to put it back on.I did get a few ice packs that I slid inside the boot and it helped a bit. So when I got home I finally took off the boot ant yes... it was really swollen. I kept it elevated and used more ice, but it was still a bit swollen and painful this morning so I decided not to go. There's still a lot of ice and snow outside and I didn't want to make it even worse. It feels better now, and I'll go back to work tomorrow, but I will still be very careful walking on all this snow. What about you, lot's of snow this winter? | | It will be hard to enjoy your day off under those conditions, but good for you in staying home. No, hubby and I had enough of shoveling snow and defrosting windshields and sliding into snowdrifts and going BOOM. So we moving to not-so-sunny California early on, and now have come away from the coast a bit to sunny Arizona where the only snow we ever see is way up in the mountain tops, where as far as I'm concerned it can stay! Hope your boo-boo feels better soon. | | | | | | | arkaf61 (5809)

| | Ah.. proof that being hit with snow for years does not necessarily freeze our brain LOL So you said bye-bye the snow and moved to better places. Good for you! I might do that one day, if I can. Snow in the mountain tops is acceptable, as long as I"m not living in the mountain tops LOL I think I did very well in staying home. I used to be the kind of person that would only miss a day's work if things were really so serious that there was no other option, but I've learned that things used to take longer to heal because of it. In this case had I persisted and go to work, my ankle would still be a bit swollen by now and hurting from the effort of standing on it, this way, the swelling is gone and it hardly hurts. | | | | GardenGerty (35331)

| | I do not necessarily want to say good bye to the snow, just the commute. I like having a variety of seasons. Even the hot hot hot summer. I am sure it is not as hot as some of the places in Arizona, though. | | | | | | | Official Scottsdale Site Get Free Scottsdale Visitors Guide.Find Dining, Shopping, Golf & More! www.ScottsdaleCVB.com | add comment | | | |

| | I try tess LOL Well there goes my record, so far this was the only year that I had not fallen at least once during the winter time hehehehe Glad I stayed home though, it usually takes longer to get better when I keep putting weight on my foot. | | | | | | | what is snow View Maps, Forecasts, Data For what is snow! www.OnTheSnow.com | add comment | | | |

| | We've really had a lot of snow this year. I think that I always fall at least once each winter. THe last time there wasn't much snow but it was quite ice. I was walking my dog and slipped. MY dog stayed there looking at me probably thinking how funny I looked as I tried to get and and fell two or three more times hehehehehe I don't usually get hurt though, because I roll when I fall, so I never hit the ground that hard. But this time it was more a matter of the foot caving in the wrong way. I might go to work tomorrow since the swelling is gone and it hardly hurts now. BUt I'll see when I get up:) | | | | | | | | | Concrete Sidewalks Jazz up concrete sidewalks using stains, textures, stamps & more. www.ConcreteNetwork.com | add comment | | | |

| | We have had more snow this winter than usual. I have not had any falls, and no car accidents, either. Your morning commute sounds like a real challenge. I sure hope that your swelling goes down and that you are back to normal in short time. | | | | | | | arkaf61 (5809)

| | My ankle healed nicely specially because I stayed home the day after. I know that usually it takes longer, but I tend to never stay home if I can at least stand. This time I followed doctor's suggestion and things worked much better :) Now this winter has been a bit too much snow wise, I think it's enough now LOL :) | | | | | | | snowstorms snowstorms Online.
