Do you let your pets on the furniture?

Yeah..my dog is my baby, so I let her pretty much wherever she wants. She sleeps in bed with us, which became difficult cause I would end up being pushed onto the floor, so we spent the extra money and got a king size bed (we needed a new bed anyway, it wasn't just for the dog). She has her own pillow and sleeps under the blankets..it's really cute, but it gets annoying sometimes. I never have to be worried about getting cold though, as she's a fabulous cuddler.

I let my dog lie on the sofa when my parents aren't home. Maybe I shouldn't. Can this be unhealthful?

Yes, my little fur babies go wherever they please. The couch, the bed--whatever. I don't let them on the kitchen counters but that is about my only restriction. They are like my children and I don't mind them on the furniture.

well, when we say that she is a member of the family we should not have issues whether she is on sofa or bed or anywhere in the house.

My comments coz my Lisa has complete access and liberty to go anywhere and do whatever she wants, one more thing she has been taught well what all rooms she can access and what not.

In our old apartment we used to let the birds have free reign of the place. They hung out on the furniture and everything. They weren't allowed on the bed, but that was about it since they have a habit of pooping wherever they want. When it was bed time they would all go back to their cage to sleep, except Peepers who always wanted to sleep under our bed. Now we live in a townhome with a large back porch that we have turned into an aviary. We decided we didn't want to have them running free inside again since they did a fair amount of damage that we had to repair when we moved out of the old apartment. Not to mention the fact that they just loved eating through wires.

We have a little kitty called Leo and the only place he wants to go is on top of the back cushion of the sofa but it is all flattened and terrible looking now.

We are kind of wishing we had never let him get up there in the first place but now it is ruined there is not much point in chasing him off.

Yes and my cat has a bad habit of getting on the counter, too. I'm trying to break him of that. Only feel bed that the only window is where he can't reach it, accept by jumping on the counter first. If he goes right in the window, I let it slide. If he lollygags on the counter, however, I put him off!

I do. I couldn't imagine not. Yes the fur everywhere is a pain, but it's no comparison to waking up to a lovely kitty cuddle or one of them snuggling under the duvet with you or just up against you on the sofa. I wouldn't trade that for anything!
