My client is the anti-tech

She did something to her cd player and it wasn't playing. She blamed it on the batteries. I got replacements for her, but it still didn't work. Finally, just as she handed it to me it started working. I think she had it on "hold" and after taking it off hold, it took a few seconds to start playing.

Are you talking about my mother ElicBxn? LOL For a minute there I thought you were!! She's so anti-tech that it isn't even funny! She can't understand a computer and not much else. No matter how I try to explain things to her, she just doesn't get it. Such as the computer, I tell her to not analyze it but to know that it just does and she'll get past this point that she's stuck in but she's not able to get that concept even.

Nope, can't be your mother, she doesn't have any children.... Just as well actually, because it'd be YOU taking care of her, no me.... She used to be a bit better about techie stuff, but she's lost what she had. And she's only 60! My MOTHER had more understanding than she does at 60. In fact, my mother had more understanding until the last few strokes in the last few years.

I have had the same affect on vcr players. Some of the teachers at my school will ask me to fix the vcr when they can't get it to play. It is sometimes just a matter of checking everything to make sure it is hooked up to the monitor properly.

Every weds at my mom's place we've been going to a program called "Great Courses." One day the guy couldn't get the dvd/vcr to talk to the tv. Pretty soon, I'm under there getting the cord rehooked up for him. Mind you, in this case I have my youth working FOR me! He's pretty tech savvy for an older fellow, but when it comes to the wires he gets intimidated.

Well I'm 51 and I guess I have experience working for me and a sense for making machines work.

She just doesn't seem to have the concept of how things work and WON'T read the instructions.

Is it that she is anti-tech or that she is not a technical person... those are two different things. Knowing how to troubleshoot is another... if the CD was on 'HOLD' then it would still be spinning not just not working at all... which would give indication the batteries are fine. Thanks Zelo

Some people are like that... my dad for one... would not get a cell phone for the longest time. Now he's talking of getting a 'fancy' one with bluetooth and texting and all.... Thanks Zelo

That's funny. My friend drains batteries on apple products. She holds them and the battery power just starts going down immediately, then she hands it back to me and it goes back up. I think she has some type of magnetic field in her or something, it's so weird.

That's FUNNY. A good thing my roomie doesn't do that, nothing would work around her!

Sounds like it LOL. Maybe she jinxed it and you brought it luck and back to life. Just kidding. I bet she had the pause button pushed also and didn't realise it. I'm glad you got it working though.

LOL. That is funny. Some people are just not tech savvy and are not interested in what all of those buttons do LOL and it drives them crazy when the buttons do not work.

She's a hoot when it comes to tech stuff. She got up and left it and said: "I don't think it has a pause button." I walked over and hit the "play" button and paused it.

Maybe it was just a fluke that happened. Or does this kind of thing happen to her all the time. It is a good thing that she has you to help her out.
