How do you eat your green beans?

I personally was never a real fan of green beans. My mother used to have to force me to eat them. She's learned a thing or two about cooking since I was a child though. She decided to twist up her green beans, or as she calls them, Green Beans With A Twist. She uses frozen french green beans, and she puts them into a frying pan to fry up with fresh bacon pieces and ranch dressing powder flavoring. I tell you, when it's all cooked up it's the best green beans I've eaten! It's a family favorite, and we tend to eat a lot of it around here. During family reunions my mother makes these green beans with recipe cards already made up, because everyone always wants to know how it is made. How do you like your green beans? Any family recipes that you use?

That sounds really good. I like a certain brand of green beans. I like Veri-Green from Giant Eagle. I dont know of any other store that sells them. My favorite way to prepare green beans is to make cassarole with mushroom soup and Frenches Fried Onions.

I like green bean casserole too, but my mom never really makes it. In fact, the only time I ever have it is when I'm with my boyfriends family, they make it all the time. They aren't the greatest of cooks though.

My very favorite green beans are on the Chinese buffets. I don't know how exactly they make them, but I could eat a plate of just that. Otherwise, I like them steamed at home with butter. Actually the fried with bacon does sound pretty good.

I never really eat those ones, I'm not too sure why. I always stick to the things I wouldn't eat regularly at home when I go out to the chinese buffet.

I cook my green beans with onion, beef bullion cube, and oil. I usually use frozen beans. I love the green beans they have at a Chinese restaurant near here but I've never been able to nail the recipe. Takes like sesame oil and garlic but I don't know what else.

I love green beans. I, like your mom, prefer the frozen french cut variety. I like them plain, with just a bit of salt. I also like them with slivered almonds. Green bean casserole (with cream of mushroom soup) is pretty good too.

I only like to eat the fresh green beans. Normally I will stir fry them with the garlic sauce and ham, bacon or egg. And a bit of soy sauce. It tastes super!

I like green beans that have been cooked with ham and potatoes in water. The ham flavors the beans and you eat the potatos like you would a baked potato. I also like to brown hamburger, add salt and pepper (you can also add garlic and/or onions, if you want) and then add a can of French style beans and tomato sauce. We then eat that with hash brown potatoes. Yum! One of my daughter's favorites. One way I will NOT eat green beans is that Green Bean Casserole that is so popular during the holidays. To me, it is just the nastiest stuff - I can't stand the way it looks or tastes. But, I'm in the minority, I know.

When I was young, my dad always grew lots of beans in the garden. I didn't care too much for the green ones, but I love the yellow (wax) beans and can eat a plate of those with salt, pepper and a little butter. Now as I've gotten older, I do like the french style green beans, whether just with salt, pepper & butter or with the mushroom soup and crispy onions on top. I'll also eat them just perfectly plain as well.

I have found a very frozen green bean at Aldies. They are young and tender. We like them in a casserole with cream of mushroom soup and French onions on top. we also like then sort of fried in olive oil and sesame seeds and some times I will put lemon pepper on them.

WHen I as a kid I hated green beens with a passion. I could always find it's taste even if my mom had used them in soup and mash the whole vegetables in:) So it was interesting when as an adult I found out that I actually like green beens. I don't like the frozen too much and the ones that are more common in here, which are kind of rounded are not my favorite ones. I prefer the flat ones, fresh. Often I eat them with a bit of margarine and lemon juice.

I cannot stand green beans but after just looking at what your mum used to do with them, I would love to try them like that myself! It sounds really nice.

Yes, bacon cooked in with green beans is awesome! I sometimes drizzle a little lemon juice on mine and add a bit of butter and salt. Almonds are good with green beans too.

I love my greens now but I wasn't so keen on them when I was younger, I only like garden peas. Now I love mange tout, green beans, broad beans etc.,, I used to just wash and 'tail' the green beans and cook them in butter but now I am healthier and give them a zap in some hot water but still leave them crunchy and serve them up with chicken (in a creamy sauce - bang goes the healthy bit but it is Campbell's mushroom soup, so it can't be too bad, can it?!?!?!?!) some rice (no butter, again!) or with some mash potato which I make from scratch. Don't have any particular bean recipes - will leave that to some of MyLot's more adventurous sort..... And I always use lots of different spices (rosemary, oregano, chili, onions, garlic etc.)

I don't like frozen green beans they always taste like rubber. I usually just eat green beans out of a can they would be good combined with bacon though I think anything would be good withe bacon bits.
