Calling All Women

Let's talk politics and Hillary Clinton. During a recent conversation with a male friend, he claimed that women will vote for Clinton simply because of female comaraderie. I disagreed. My question is, do you follow the issues, or will you vote for Hillary simply because she is a fellow female? If you are voting for someone else, whom are you voting for and why?

Let's just say that I won't vote for her because she is a female and I am a female. I do follow the issues. While I believe she's a very bright woman, I will not vote for her. I'm undecided at this time who I will vote for and will make a decision later in the year.

I am also undecided and not thrilled with the candidates. I find this whole conversation very interesting. On the flip side, I read an article that if Hillary wins the Democratic primary, men will vote for McCain because they aren't ready for a female president. (Even if they don't like McCain). But if it's McCain vs. Obama, they will vote for the one they feel is most qualified. I thought this would be an interesting topic from the other side.

I don't know much about Hillary. Never heard her spech. But I am from latvia and our previous president was woman. All nation respected her and she is one of my idols. Strong and beautiful woman. I don't think you need to vote for Hillary only because she is woman, but I also believe that America will never have woman as president:(

many people will vote for her because she is a woman but like your other poster said, many will vote for Obama because he is black. It is a shame that winning a presidential election is like winning the popularity contest in high school. i read all of the posts to this question and it is funny the reasons people state that they wont vote for Hillary. It completely reminded me of high school. there is a flip to every view point. someone said she is a control freak...I think she is powerful. someone said they cant stand her...I think quite highly of her. I am voting for Hillary because I have actually reviewed her stance on issues and I agree with them. This is the basis for an informed decision. It is a shame that many people just vote for who they like and dont know what they stand for...hence why GW got the white house instead of gore. too bad he didnt re-run.

I disagree as well. I am a woman and I refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton. For one I am a Republican and second I can't stand her or her husband. But honestly I have no clue who I will vote for. I don't like any of the people running for president. I will probably not vote at all or write in some outrageous name. I would have been happier if Mitt Romney was in the running.

I'm sure some women might, just to get a woman in the White House.
Personally, I wouldn't vote for her if you paid me.

I also think Hillary is a strong woman and if she were to become our first "Ms. President", she would do a fine job. This is a hot topic because we may be making history this year. We have a woman and an African American running for president. Either way, it shows that our country has come a long way. From hearing the other responses, it seems like your friend is wrong and women are going to vote for the person they think is best for the job. I won't say who I'm voting for becuase I feel that is personal, but I try to stay up on the issues and will vote for the person that reflects the closest to my own beliefs.
