I watched the Magnificent 7 with my grandson this afternoon. It is one of my favorite western movies of all time. I began to think of my seven favorite westerns and came up with this list: Magnificent 7, How The West Was Won, Hondo, Rio Bravo, High Plains Drifter, Shenandoah, The Searchers. Do you have other favorite westerns?

That’s a very nice selection and pretty much share a liking for most of them. I would also add Gunfight at the O.K. Corral with Kirk Douglas and Charlton Heston, The Man from Laramie with James Stewart and of course True Grit. Although they are not great westerns I would also try to find room for “The Shootist” and “The Cowboys” to the list because they are still good movies.

I love The Cowboys, not so hot on The Shootist. Anything with James Stewart is worth watching!

I love Louis L'Amour, have read all his books, most more than once. I have never seen Utah Blaine, I don't think. Who is in it? I like the Glenn Ford 3:10 and plan to see the remake when it comes out on DVD. Do you recall the Ford and Jack Lemmon movie, I think it was called The Cowboys. It was fun. I like Red River as well!
