How much would you pay for childcare?  |

 Since I started working, I had to quickly find childcare and asked a local neighbor. My son had recently started hanging out with the children in this family and they seemed to be doing a wonderful job in regard to being very attentive to him. Because I haven't had to pay for childcare for a long time, I really have no idea of the going rates. What do you pay for childcare or what would you be willing to pay per week?

thats when i decided that i wanted to make more than 40 a week..lol

I have looked into childcare costs here in UK though so doubt if it will answer question and they wanted £3.75 per hour within school time which when you consider the minimum wage per hour is £5.52 that is a lot of money from your wages. I would see if you could come to an arrangement where you look after their children back if possible rather than pay money. Or ask them how much they require, hopefully not a lot eh! Ellie:D

 mommyboo (1527) | 4 months ago |  A friend of mine and I trade kids occasionally, like she'll watch mine for me or I will watch hers for her. I can't see this happening unless you're very close though and would trust the other one completely with your kids. I would accept much less, say $25 a day to watch a child of a friend, for a stranger or somebody just wanting last minute childcare I would want at least $6 an hour if it was going to be more than 3 hours. Minimum wage here now is like 8 bucks! People are generally wanting more than 8 hours of childcare at a time. I can't see making $2 an hour for taking care of a child, that's almost highway robbery.
I did do childcare for somebody at this rate but it was only 3 days a week and she did provide me with everything. I did not have to buy diapers or extra food or a carseat or toys. She gave me swim diapers too and a float for the pool.

We have 2 children and it costs 50.00 a week, however, we live in a very small town the most expensive babysitter here costs about 100.00 a week for 2 kids. It's really not that bad, however our babysitter is a really awesome babysitter, and i'm really happy that she is not that expensive. I just let her know the sitaution that I have school, and my husband works, and she started watching the kids with no problem, and she is really good with them too. My kids adore her. They even ask to go over to her house and play, I mean she's really awesome. Just be careful because if you don't live in a town where everyone knows everybody else, then just check around for some references from that babysitter, you just have to be careful.

Fees in Chicago and suburbs are probably higher than in other cities. $150 is in the lower range.
My friend pays for sitter $12/hour

| 6. sedel1027 (11831) | 7 months ago |  Around here, full day on the cheap for a school age child is $75/week and that is through the school during the summer. The 2 weeks that the school doesn't have daycare we pay $150/week. When he was younger we paid $135/week through KinderCare which seems to be the going rate for kids baby - school age. My nephew is 4 my brother pays $130/week that includes preschool. The girl I work with has an infant that she pay $140/week for at a small daycare center.
If you think about it that is less than minimum wage. If you paid $5.75 for 10 hours per day (9 hours while you work + 1 hour to you to get to the sitters), that is $57.50/day or $287.50/work week.

| 7. kitty2 (907) | 7 months ago |  Childcare is pretty expensive. But if my child was getting really good care, I would pay quite a bit. My friends are paying up to $700.00 a month. But it includes a lot of activities, more then one person taking care of the children,(which I agree keeps your child safe from abusive situations and lots more.)
