The Ice Thief

I was wondering if any among you have this problem. You see, I have an Ice Thief whom I assume must creep into my apartment in the dead of night while I'm sleeping to pester me by stealing my ice from my ice trays. I still use the old-fashioned method of making ice by filling the little plastic trays with water. Now, I don't use ice very often, but on the rare occasion that I do I would be happy if there was some in at least one of the trays.
I even thought I had gained the upper hand on this bothersome creature(more fool I) by refilling the trays each time I take a couple of cubes from it. That doesn't work either! Before you say it must be someone else in the apartment -I live alone, so that's out. So, you'll understand why I am all bent out of shape over this situation. I've had it with this Ice Thief.

I also used to blame my kids and my ex, mummymo, and I really feel like I owe them all an apology. Who knew?

My freezer is just fine, gabs. This guy doesn't bother anything like meat or foods -only ice!

lol..I do...and I was wondering the same as you!
Does ice 'evaporate'?
We don't use ice often and I fill the trays 'just in case'! And I don't find any when I really need it.
A month back something hard fell on my foot and I went looking for the ice...and just couldn't find it! I had to borrow an ice pack from a neighbour!

Are you serious? You have someone coming into your apartment and taking ice? That would scare me to the point I wouldn't sleep. Could it be the ice is evaporating over a period of time? I've had that happen many times. I also use the old fashioned ice trays because I was advised not to get a fridge with an icemaker. We use very little ice anyway.

I had this problem too before I got my icemaker in the fridge here. I used to blame the kids and, of course, they denied it. I never considered it a mystery since I still thught it was the kids... Now, I may owe them an apology huh?

I would be willing to bet, whittby, that the Ice Thief was also visiting your house when no one noticed.

If I lived in your house, I'd be the one guilty of stealing the ice, although I always refill the trays. I have an addiction to eating ice and have for many years. I will sit down just with an ice tray in front of me. Wierd, but true. I make sure I fill the trays, because I don't want to go without and get really upset if someone else forgets to fill them.
