crayons last forever. I have a huge bucket of crayons left over from when my girls were young and now my grandchildren use them. I doubt I'll ever have to invest in the crayola co. again.

not really. they all get broken or lost or thrown away. i don't buy too much crayons. if you have a lot and she doesn't use them, there are a lot of ways to recycle them. i remember i used to have these multi-color crayon blocks made of scraps of old crayons. you can also melt them down into other things. i also remember a machine probably by crayola which takes old crayons, melts them down and makes new ones. its one of those kid friendly ones what use a light bulb or something. i'm not sure if its still around or not, but you can try and check. i thought those were a cool idea. you can also get small little cute molds of bears and things, melt them down and put them in the molds and hand those out as gifts.

Hello dear ersmommy. It is never too many for kids to have crayons. You know, the kids love to use crayons to draw pictures with their colorful pictures and some of them get broken while being used. I hope that your daughter will be a young artist, a prospective one in her school.

My son had probably 6 or 7 boxes of crayons in the house. I buy them at the beginning of the school year when you can buy Crayola's for a quarter a box. Since, my 14 month old daughter has recently discovered coloring I can see them getting a lot of use in the future.

Crayons, textas, pencils, pens, the works. We have too many of all of them. Both my girls love drawing, writing etc, as do I. We are all highly addicted to buying new writing implements. I just can't help myself! There are so many different colours and textures to be created!

My son is only 18 months old, and already has a few boxes of crayons. I don't give them to him when they break, because I worry about him swallowing the small pieces. But I hang on to them because when he is a little older those crayons can be a lot of fun with other projects. I have an article on Helium.com called Crafty uses for broken crayons if you are looking for ideas to use them up, make them seem fresh and new again. The link is in my profile. I've done all of the projects with children and they are a lot of fun!

I always had plenty of crayons for my kids, if they were to get extra, I would just put them away for another day, same with coloring books ect.. They would always get so excited when I would pull out the new back up box, or the new books I had put away. We all know how those crayons break, and those coloring books get ripped and raggy. So since I had back up I would just replace with fresh, they loved it and it help give some order to coloring books and crayons.
