I really love both but, I think my favorite is probably Chinese in some cases. I really love sesame chicken. I know that I can eat sesame chicken all day. But yea man I really love the great taste of sesame chicken. I think that I like the rice better with the Japanese. Get some ginger sauce and put it in the rice. You should try Japanese also if any of you guys never tried it. But i like rice. I do not know now which one is my favorite. I really love them both.

I love Japanese more than Chinese cooking. I love Sushi.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

O ok, I see that you like them both. I really have not tried sushi. I have been told that it is actually pretty good. I will have to see for myself.

Sushi, when prepared correctly, is really tasty.

I don't think that one is better than the other, I think they are both good. It just depends on which mood I am in. There are not a lot of good japanese restaurants in my hometown, but there is a really good Chinese restaurant. My husband loes to cook, and he can cook almost anything.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

Well you are right about that. They are both pretty good, you know. I really love the sesame chicken.

I live in massachusetts and we are lucky to have many good japanese restaurants. I think sushi is the way to go. it is definitely one of the healthiest forms of food and has a deep history that has not been completey americanized like chinese food. nowadays it is hard to find authentic chinese food, but you can almost always get authentic japanese.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

See I can not really see my self eating any sushi.

I can't decide. Plus some dishes can be found in each others cuisines (dumplings, fried rice, nikuman, ramen/noodles). If I had to choose I'd say Chinese is slightly better, but the jury is still out on it. Japanese has a lot of dishes that are fantastic (sushi, miso, takiyoki, eel, wakame, tonkatsu).

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

Wow thats great, I see that you like to eat these different dishes. You are like another person out of so many other people who also like sushi.

I also like both, but I think I tend to choose Japanese more than Chinese food. Mostly because I really like things grilled and I find them more in Japanese food than chinese. Chinese tends to have more fried stuff and I don't eat fried things that much.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

O yea you are a cool person. I see that you at least like chinese. That is cool, I like asking these questions, the reason why is because I see many of the similarities we all may have you know.

I like to eat chinese becuase it gives good taste. Being south asian i like to eat some spicy foods and the chinese recipes are quit similar to my triditional dishes like fried rice, nuggets etc. I like minchoriyan, hot and sour soup and fried rice very much.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

O ok thats nice. I really do not like that much spicy foods. But yes I love Chinese and Japenese food.

I think it's not that fair to compare Chinese and Japanese based on what you have in the U.S.

the Japanese restaurants in US are pretty much at the same level as those in Japan. But what Chinese restaurants cook are very different from the restaurants in China. And you don't have the opportunity to try many really amazing Chinese dishes in US.

If you really like Chinese food, maybe you'd like to try them in China :)

I don't know if I have ever tried Japanese but I do like Chinese..I love the chicken and broccoli..General Taos Chicken, the fried rice is very good...I like any of the dishes that have chicken in them and also the pork one..

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

Yea you are right about that. But really what makes it tasty is probably the fried shrimp. I love the jumbo shrimp and eat it with the ginger sauce.

Granted, taste is individual, but from experience and experimentation I rank the major Asian cuisines as follows: Vietnamese 1st, Thai/Khmer 2nd, Japanese 3rd, Chinese 4th, and Indian and Korean tied for 5th. This is by no means a comment on quality, each of these cuisines is of high quality and contain a variety of ingredients.

I have eaten several of these cuisines in their native countries, and at both high-end restaurants and street-vendor stalls.
- I've eaten Thai in Bangkok and Khmer in Siem Reap.
- In Shenzhen Guangdong (Canton in English) China I of course had Cantonese, and also in Hong Kong. I found the Chinese food in Taipei Taiwan to be more like Fujian of the mainland.
I have eaten all these cuisines at American restaurants all across the country.

A cuisine I forgot to mention is Malay, which I have sampled in both Kuala Lumpur and in America. Which is a bit courser than the more refined Asian cuisines and in general is quite spicy.

I pick Vietnamese for the top slot because of not only its unique components but also its fusion of Chinese elements, French influences, and the citrus and curries of Thai.

The American-Chinese cuisine is mostly based on Cantonese with a bit of Hunan and Szechuan to add some serious spice. 19th century Chinese immigrants who came to America to work on building the western railroads created a style of Chinese food not found in China by utilizing local ingredients and catering to the western American tastes.

I like both and agree, Sesame Chicken is really good, but I am a bit partial to Japanese tempura dishes. I like sweet and sour battered chicken, and I love Tempura Banana with Toffee Sauce. Yummy!!!

Brightest Blessings.

myLot reputation of 85/100. DESMASTER2007 (583)   ranked 465 out of 8,742 in cooking  5 years ago

Yes I could eat some sesame chicken right about now. Sweet and sour battered chicken is actually pretty good. But you have to have the rice also.

myLot reputation of 98/100. Darkwing (7548)  5 years ago

Hi Jenny...I love the seaweed... it's not really seaweed when taken in my country, but greens, and it's shredded and sprinkled with brown sugar. Yummmmy. It goes really nice with the more savoury dishes.

myLot reputation of 98/100. Darkwing (7548)  5 years ago

Des, Sweet and Sour Battered Chicken is good, as is Lemon Chicken. You're making me hungry. I like egg rice with my chicken dishes, but prefer noodles, really. Rice, I save for curry dishes. thumbup
