Winston Churchill once said, "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." Looking at Iraq after having a democratic government doesn't look any better than how it did when Saddam Hussein was in power. Would you say countries without democracy would be more effective? Personally, I don't think it's as great as people put it out to be.

Country without democracy you can never even think about it. There are countrys fighting for freedon from the atrocities of the monarchy and here comes a person supporting it.
Actually you should have said this in olden days there were great rulers some of the best who cared about their people but now the opposite is true no one cares about their sub ordinates.
Forget monarchy my friend democracy will surely win.

HAH! Husseins dictatorship was not a democracy, and I'm sure that the voters in Iraq would disagree with you. Rhetoric and generalizations don't make things true.

I'm sorry, did you expect Iraq to turn into Japan or Germany immediately following the war? Did you expect the economy to be rebuilt overnight, insurgents to disappear, and great pillars of the community to be voted into government office? It takes times for these things to work. That's precisely why McCain said Americans should expect the US to maintain a presence there for a long time.
As for how effective democracy is, that's a different story entirely. A full democracy is the most inefficient form of government possible. The simplest reason is that the majority is usually wrong. The majority of people thought the world was flat, the sun revolved around the earth, witches should be burned in Salem, and that black people should be slaves. You can't just trust the majority because they are the majority.
Dictatorships are the most effective forms of governments because decisions can be made and carried out quickly. Votes take time. Debates take time. Negotiations take time. That's a lot of time wasted on some decisions that one intelligent ruler could make in five minutes. The problem with dictatorships is that they are rarely what one would call a benevolent dictatorship. Many believed that Vladimir Lenin was a benevolent dictator. Once Stalin took over dictatorship gained a whole new meaning.
Now when people think of dictators images of people like Stalin and Hitler come to mind. Nobody thinks about how the Vatican in some ways is a dictatorship. The Pope has absolute rule, but because he is a benevolent dictator, nobody would dare use that word to describe him. Instead his position is considered that of an elective monarchy since the cardinals choose the pope. Of course, he can then pick and choose cardinals.

Democracy is quite literally the tyranny of the majority. So many suffer from the delusion that the government of the United States is democracy, and that our form of government is ideal for everyone. The reason they're deluded is 1.)we're a republic, not a democracy, and 2.) government depends on the culture of the people. What works for some, doesn't always work for others, which is why America's attempt to bring "democracy" to the middle east is a futile waste of time. It won't last, and it definitely won't be anything like America's government.
I say it's different strokes for different folks. Democracy might work out in some countries, but it can't work out for all. Some people are better off with a dictatorship, and others are better off with a republic. It all depends on the people.

democracy maybe is not good or bad for itself, just for for the country suitation ,you know, the Iraq when ruled by the saddam hussein, there is no democracy but the country is not too rich and poor but afer the war, soemthing happened,so you should know that whether the outcome is for the war or for the democracy, and the ruler saddam hussein is just a autocracy.so i don;t know for sure wheter the demcracy is effective or not ,but i thought the way to improve the economic of a country is for the couhtry's quo.
