Well, my boyfriend usually deals with the oil changes on our vehicles. He works in the automotive section of Wal-Mart, and strictly believes in changing the cars oil when your supposed to. He actually just got the oil changed in our Elantra 3 days ago or something. It was a little late, but we didn't have the money to do it exactly when it was due for one.

Do you know I have the same kind of Car you have, Mind is white, what color is yours? I have a 1997 Elantra no rust spots, it is in great condition, and is very good on gas.

Ours is a 2003, and it is silver. We've had it for like 3 years, and it was only ever owned by one other person, and she took care of it. It's in really good condition still, and still looks quite brand new.

Actually, they have done studies and their are no significant wear and tear issues between every 3K and every 6K mile oil changes. It does appear to be something that was introduced many years ago and was never changed.

They have always said that you should change your oil every 3,000 miles, but from what I am hearing that is not the case anymore. I have read a few other discussions, and they were saying that is not the case anymore. well I do know that I need it done, because it is way overdue, and I have put some miles on my car.

My husband changes our oil about once every three months, no matter how many miles we have put on the car. We never put 3,000 miles on it anymore within the three months. He used to though when he worked his other job. We need to change ours soon. Even though we do not put alot of miles on the car, it is good to keep it changed out when you can.

Hi Marcia, Yes i do get my oil changed on a regular basis.I bought my car new in 2003. I always got the oil changed every 3,000 miles because I wanted to be sure to keep the warrenty up. But I am happy to say that next month will be my last payment on this car, it will be payed off!! I am told you do not have to get the oil changed every 3,000 miles, I will probally go about 4,000 from now on.

I'll do it every month to prevent damage of course in my country the oil is to cheap and i can do that, if the oil is expensive or something you don't need to change it so early, but watch out if the oil is burned or is there less oil than when you change it, if you have a brand new car there wont be any problem.

I did my oil change well over 3,000 miles last time, because I went to Alamba on the weekend, and I don't have time to do the oil change. It was okay, since it was okay 300 miles over. Not a big deal?

I just had a bunch of work done on my van. I will be due for one soon as well. Maybe after I go for recruiting and prospecting with my businesses tomorrow! And looking for customers. I will be driving a long distance. Carole

I just bought my car and have only put 1000 miles on it, so I haven't changed it lately. I know it was changed right before I bought it, too. I don't really drive all that much and most of my driving is in the city, so I really change it about every 2500 to 3000 miles. But, I have only been driving about 6000-7000 miles a year since gas prices went sky high. So, if I waited until 6000 miles, it would mean changing my oil only once a year, and I don't like that.

My husband actually does this himself rather than taking it in to get it done..He does it quite frequently too like every couple of weeks but he also does a LOT of driving...

I was long overdue for one, so I went ahead and got one done over two months ago. Saved me time, but with the way my car is I am glad that i did.

I just got my oil changed when I had to have a tire replaced. I can't go by mileage since my odometer don't work on my car, so i have to go by months. Mine was well overdue for an oil change. Need to make sure you check you oil in between oil changes too!

I have 4 vehicles. I only keep up on the oil change of the newer one. I know its terible but I will get the others soon. The other 3 have an oil leak so I put new oil in them all the time.
