I am on my 37th week of pregnancy but I still have this unstoppable craving for Ice cream. My doctor adviced me to cut off the sweets temporarily because I might have high sugar levels and it may not be healthy for my baby. I just love Ice Cream and I just can't stop. It's okay to have cravings, my doctor said, but it's not okay if I eat more than 4 servings of sweets like chocolates, ice cream, or cakes in a week. Now, I am feeling guilty. I feel like this is not normal. Is there something wrong with me? I would crave for Ice Cream anytime of the day. I would tell my mom to keep the other pint of Ice cream that's left in the freezer. I hope this could help me. The problem here is the thought of really wanting to eat what you really like and not be able to eat.. Not a very good feeling. LOL

I think most pregnant women crave ice cream for some reason if your doctor is worried about your sugar level why not get sugar free ice cream? I have found some that taste very good Sweet Freedoms fudge bars are really good and have no sugar.

I would eta it just not a while bowl. Stick to like one scoop a day or something. Cut back on sugar somewhere else. Did they not do the glucose test to make sure your sugar levels were okay?

Yeah, since I am a nurse I do check my blood sugar everyday. I have an HGT machine with me and it comes handy evrytime I feel like I have eaten to much carbohydrates and sugar. Lately, I noticed there's a slight increase, that's why I feel guilty. I just need to follow some advices here from MyLot. Maybe I just need to get rid of ice cream here in my house or anything sweet.
Thank you for your response.
Happy posting!

If your doctor have advised you to cut down your sweet craving, best is to follow that advice. When we are pregnant, some might just get high sugar level or high blood pressure. Maybe you can satisfy your craving by eating only one ice cream serving only per day. In that way, you can still have ice cream but not as much.

Ah having a craving is normal although as you say if you have high blood sugars then all this sweet stuff wont help. Maybe avoid having it in the house and just one day a week go out with a friend or family member for ice cream I found it easier to avoid my bad cravings if I didnt have any in the house!

Maybe because it is very hot that is why you love eating ice cream today. Or you are craving for it so much. I have done that once before when I am taking summer classes when I was in college, every freaking break, I go to our canteen to buy an ICE Cream... same flavor... VANILLA! Lolz!

Hi there, I just hope that you will have a successful pregnancy and deliver the baby. I think it would be better if you cut off and try to convince yourself to stop eating sweets at times. I agree that what the Doctor just told you is true because I am also a health student. I value health so much, and I always try to do my best to avoid stuffs like getting sick sometimes. It is nice that you were somehow able to manage and control yourself. What name are you planning to give your baby, is it your first time? Have a great time and enjoy. ^_^

Hi there!
Yes, this is my first pregnancy. I am on my 39th week and I would probably have the baby by the end of the week. I am excited.
I really hope he is healthy. I did try to follow my doctor, the last time I had my blood checked, my sugar was still a bit higher. But I really hope the baby is okay.
As with my baby's name, I haven't decided on it yet. I have 3 choices here and I feel like I will have the decision when he is out.
Thanks!
