I have never eaten it with salt, have you? I don't really like cooked oatmeal, so when I do eat it, I put too much sugar and milk on it.

I don't eat oatmeal very often, but when I do, I prefer to put butter and sugar on it. I usually prefer malt-o-meal over oatmeal, and add both butter and sugar to it as well, but it's interesting to note that the cooking instructions call for adding salt to the water when you cook it. So I guess I'm actually using both on the malt-o-meal.

Hi, chenpan. I prefer to add salt to my oatmeal that is plain. I also like some butter along with it too. But, if I am eating a sweet flavored type of oatmeal I will put some butter in it, but no salt. I don't think that salt will taste good with something sweet as this oatmeal flavor.

I have never tried adding salt in my oatmeal. It has been sugar that I add with milk. I really do not know how it will taste if it is a bit salty.

I use just a pinch of salt when cooking my oatmeal. When I eat my oatmeal is when I add the sugar. brown sugar to be exact. I love eating my oatmeal with brownsugar and milk. It is very tasty.

It's a Scottish tradition to put a little salt in the porridge (oatmeal) when it's cooking. The sugar and milk thing comes from the use of other breakfast cereals such as cornflakes. Oatmeal is good for the control of chloresterol as it combines with it and carries it out of the body. Therefore the addition of salt seems contrary to what is considered healthy these days.

hi chen. i always put sugar. sometimes i add milk as well. sometimes though i put honey in my oatmeal just so it tastes different. other times, i add fruit like apples, strawberries, and pears. the fruits provide the sweetness that i want. try it sometime on your oatmeal.
