I try to put my name in each tag of each discussion I either start or I post in. That way if i do a search I can find all the discussions I have posted in and everyone else can too. Yes its just as easy to go to discussions I have started or discussions I have posted in, but if you have tags in them then they will be found on the web too. I dunno I just like seeing my name in tags. IS THAT SO WRONG??
How about you??

There is no need to do it because in the discussions list there are links to 'discussions I've started', 'discussions I've responded to' and 'discussions my friends started', so you can find them there.
There are only 5 tags shown in each discussion and if everyone was to try it there would be no genuine discussion tags, which would make it more difficult to find any discussion in search results, so I don't think it is the right thing to do.

I was never sure about that, but I do always add tags even if there are 5 already showing. There will be a lot more names in the tags for this discussion.

WELL thinking about it not at all, infact it is a great idea. ya you are right, after a person completes reading what you have to say it is easy for them to jist see who has written it. thats cool, thanks i will try it out in some of my discussions but not in all. no i do not think anything is wrong with any of that

well I guess it is not wrong, I am just wondering doesn't hundreds of searches come up then, and off topic because your name is in them,
like if I want to look up dogs, will mssnow come up and the discussion is on how to make your boyfriend happy for example?

I have never though of doing this before. I think it’s really interesting to see my username in the tags of all my discussions and nice to find them on the web as well. I think I must try before I know whether it’s possible to search by using my username. Thanks for sharing this.

No, I can't say that I have ever put my name in the tags. I just use the links in my profile. Discussions I started, and discussions I have responded to. It never occurred to me to do it any other way...lol I don't think there is anything wrong with doing that, I just don't.
Brightest Blessings, Mari

But, if I want to search for discussions that you've participated on, couldn't I just search it on your activity area or discussions I've responded to in your profile? I think that's what those pages are for.

I haven't done it and I probably won't. My name isn't really relevant to 99.9% of discussions so I won't use it as a tag for them.
It doesn't bother me at all that other people do it though. I have seen a couple of different users do it and that is fine by me.

I think it is a very good idea to put your mylot name in the tags of discussions you start as a way of 'spreading the word'. I ill do that with immediate effect.
However, I do agree that it would not be right to put your name in tags on a discussion somebody else started.
Thanks for raising this, it's a good idea.

You can search topics by using tags. If everyone would preface their tags with their name it would make tags only useful for that person instead of a whole community. I know some people do it but personally I would not. To each their own.

I don't see why it would be wrong. I've done it a few times myself for the same reason. I don't think it matters what tags you put in, only the most popular ones are going to show up in the "tags list". Sometimes, I post the name of another member in a tag so that I can find their posts if they're someone who writes good responses.

That sounds like a good idea to me. Did not occur to me before. I generally tend to skip the tags as i find them very time consuming.

A good idea which i never thought of. this way, as you said we can track our posts. even though, we have other ways of tracking our posts. but they are grouped under different things like discussion started by us and discussions we replied. keep posting and have fun. Cheers!
