DVD camcorder |
| |
| My hubby got me a DVD camcorder for Christmas last year. We have been playing around with it ever since. This past weekend we finally used up the disk that came with the camera. We tried everything we could think of to get the disk downloaded onto my computer. Nothing worked. Any suggestions on how we can copy the disk to my computer? I know that sounds easy, but to us it isn't. Help!! | | | | | |

| | There should have been a connecting cable supplied with the camcorder to link it to the computer. This would either be a USB cable or Firewire. If you cannot find the cable or a manual that came with it, then go to the manufacturer's website and look for the model under the Support section. This should offer a user manual in PDF format and basic downloading instructions etcetera. | | | | | | |

| | There is no USB connection on this camera. I never heard of Firewire before. The only cables that came with the camera was the av cables but my computer doesn't have the ability for me to plug in these cables. The manual doesn't give much info unless you want to copy it onto a video tape. We don't want to mess with the tapes which is why we bought a DVD camcorder. | | | |

| | If you post the Manufacturer and Model of your camcorder I will try to find out how it should connect to a computer. | | | |

| | We tried windows media player and that didn't work. What we are wanting to do is to copy the dvd onto my computer so that we can make dvd copies of it to send to friends and family. | | | |

| | Can you browse your DVD disc? meaning open Window Explorer, go to your DVD drive and see any folders? | | | |

| | You have now, Spiritwolf, downloaded your DVD camcorder video to your HD. Except for the 3 files(which sorry to say nothing more we can do). In your DVD writing tool, create a DVD disc project, you will see two folders there AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. copy all files you just copied to VIDEO_TS folder, burn it, you can now view this disc using media player or your standalone DVD player. | | | |

| | there will sure be a USB cable to connect camcoder to the computer and also after you connect ... you must have plug and play feature turned on for the computer to detect that camcoder is connected.(some older systems don't havce this feature turned on) and also if they give a cd with the camcoder, see if it requires to install any drivers to your computer. | | | | | | |

| | Unfortunately this camcorder does not have a usb connection so that option is out. That would have made life so much easier. There was no CD with it either. Thanks for your help. | | | |

| | What type of disk is it? I know my camcorder uses the mini-DVD disks, which my computer can read. I can put the movies on my PC but if I want to format them I have to use a special program. | | | | | | |

| | It is a mini-DVD disk. Are you saying that I should not have formatted it? | | | |

| | No, you should not have formatted the disk when you put it in your PC. Formatting a disk normally erases everything that is on the disk. | | | |

| | I can't help I'm afraid Spiritwolf, but I do sympathise. My best advice is to go and find yourself an 8 year old, and offer them a Mars Bar to do it for you. | | | | | | |

| | I have the same problem. I used the programs that came with the camera - bought more mini dvds - 30 mintues each. I have downloaded them to my pc and onto a regular dvd, but everytime I do it, it is different - same steps don't seem to work, although that could just be me. I am so "computer challenged" at understanding things like this. IF I figure it out I'll let you know! I have 8 mini dvd's I need to put on reg dvd. | | | | | | |
