What would you have done?

Yesterday i had to go to my local supermarket to make a complaint against one of their security guards.
Over the last couple of months my two eldest boys have had nothing but trouble with the guards up there. Every time they walk in on their own, if a certain sercurity guard is on duty he will make some comment.
It all escalated yesterday when my sons had gone up to Tesco to buy a game. As soon as they walked in they were told to get out. Then the guard decided to follow them round the shop. When they asked why should they leave he said "Because you are from over there", or something to that effect. I fail to see why that had anything to do with it.
Then he blocked my eldest sons path, my son just walked round him. They then left the store. Just because they are teenagers doesn't mean they are troublemakers.
This really did annoy me as they have been going into Tesco since they were babies, we are well known up there. So now i am just waiting on a phone call from the security manager to see what is going to be done about it.
What would you have done in this situation?

i would do the same. there was an instance that happened to me last week with the security guard of a grocery store. i was listing down the prices of some goods for budgeting, this guard approached me and told me that it was forbidden for anyone to list down the prices.so, i went to the front desk and complained to them how the guard told me off. the nerve! i can't believe that no one is allowed to list down the prices of what they are about to purchase!

oh , we are not allowed to use our cellphones inside a bank to avoid possible bank robbery.

That is so stupid! What do they want you to do...have no idea how much you're about to spend? Oh, yeah, that's probably exactly what they want. Then they can over charge you and get away with it because they've made it harder to compare prices with other stores. Next people won't be allowed to have cell phones in stores...since, you know, you might be secretly filming the top secret, highly classified "building the soup pyramid".

i would have done the samething, but dont only coplain to the security company, complain to tesco as well i worked for a security co, i was thier asst admin you could also make a complain to you state dept and let them know that the security co employes harrasers. it doesnt matter what side your from what ever that means. if you children did nothing them they shouldnt be harrased by anyone. it is ashame how people have to characterize other people. they need to loose thier jobs!

I have to agree i am still not sure what he meant by that remark. I haven't seen him up there since but i am going to take it further if i do not hear anything soon. Thanks for the advice.

It's amazing how arrogant some people can be just because they carry around a little plastic badge! I think you did the right hing to complain and I hope that guard gets a serious reprimand...and your sons get a personal apology.
We have "security guards" at the little plaza we shop at. All they do is sit in their cars and drive back and forth across the parking lot. Once in a while they'll make it look like they're going to chase someone down but I've never actually seen them do anything.

You were well within your right to complain.
What was his reference to "you are from over there"?
Regardless to that if your kids were not causing a problem they had no right to treat them that way.And had my kids been targeted unjustly i'd have done the same thing.

Yes I would have complained aswell, if your children have done nothing wrong then he has no right to treat them in such a bad way.
Its not his place to decide who can go into tescos yes they can be banned from there but not by a security guard on the shop floor so he was out of order and sounds to me like he is a little power crazy!
Hope you get somewhere with your complaint, id have been very offended if that was my children and I would not have let it go!

I am still waiting to hear something but if i don't in the next couple of days i will be going up there to see what is happening
