Hello there longbangod, I've never had the chance to study or work abroad yet, but I wouldn't want to miss the chance should I get one. In fact, if my company does send me on a year or more assignments over abroad, I would be the first to jump at the chance.
I think it is simply a great exposure to be able to work in another land and to experience everything new there. I get tired here in my country and I wish to have a new environment. But don't get me wrong, I still love my country as ever. It's just that I feel that I am a bit bored with the environment here and want to experience a new life over at the other end.
Good discussion here.

Really...? That's cool. Hypermarkets here in SG are sure on the rise..and they need more workers in that area. But if you do come here, try not to get influenced in terms of the clubbing scene and all because you can fall into the wrong company if you are not careful. Just a cautionary word there..
I do agree that "missing family" is going to be the top list first and foremost, and it is not going to be an easy task. But if we set the right target and the right reason for wanting to go, which is to find a better life, I'm sure we will find that and happiness as well. I will never, ever forget my family. I will make sure that I will always remember them wherever I go. That's a long time for you to be working abroad and I admire that, truly.

Ive been working abroad for almost 6 years now (total), I know very well that its not really easy especially when you got your family already who are left behind, but I wont stop you either from working abroad. If you will come across with an opportunity, grab it for you will also learn a lot working outside your own country at the same time get the chance to earn more.
You are from Singapore right? Its one destination I wanted to work soon. My former colleagues are now working there (hypermarkets).

My friends there told me its better to work in Fair Price than in Giant, I'm not sure though they are from the same agency in the Philppines but assigned in different stores in SG. When my time comes to work there I hope I could get the best job with the best compensation ever.
By the way two of my friends there already brought their family with them, thats why I find it good to work in Singapore with this chance of taking your family with you. So being away with my family wont be a problem anymore. I hope soon...

i am not a singer, i am a bassist. my youngest brother is a singer but not the lead one. i also sing, well everybody sings, even the drumer and the keyboard player do sing. my dad plays the guitar and he sings too. i am willing to work again abroad. by that way i can save faster but as of now music industry is not that good anymore. people all around the world has their own home grown talents, so we are having a hard time to get a work abroad.

Wow thats a very nice experience. Being with your father and younger brother in another place. Are you the lead singer?
Well its really different when you got your own family already because you will surely miss them. But sometimes we need to sacrifice a little just for them also. Thats what I am doing now...

I never experience studying abroad. It was my dream before but my parents could not afford to send me somewhere else for studies.

I think that going abroad because it is like you have just taken birth. You go to a country where you will have to learn a new language, no loved ones, no friends, nothing.

Its okay because you are with you own family now. What is really hard is when you are working abroad and your family is left in your own country.

Wow 14 years is too long already. You must be very rich by now, lol.
I've been away for a total of 5 years already though I go on vacation once every year. I hope at least after few months I could afford to live with my family already in the Philippines.

I have no idea how it really feels to be working abroad. But im looking forward to work abroad maybe. Not so sure abou that decision yet. My aunt works abroad, and she left her two sons here in our country. It is sad in their part and for me too. Especially when her sons are not so close to her, very evident when she came home last time. My father opted not to go abroad--he was offered to work to somewhere outside the country. he chose not to leave us, his family and that was a very noble decision he has ever made.

Im proud of your father. He must have a very nice and good paying job. I would be like him if my job and salary before could support my family. Unfortunately not, thats why I resolve in working abroad.

i have had the experience of working aboard i spend two seasons work as a campsite courier in france for 2 months each time, back in 2005 and 2006,i manage okay with my family and friends by my side, but it was hard because i miss being able to just talk to them or go and see them when i liked. but you seem to manage and when you do speak to them or get a letter from them it give you that much more happiness to know that you are totally cut off from them.

I live in the US but i came from other country. At first i tried adjusting myself from their climate because its different from what we have, food, cultures and other stuffs. It was not hard for me.I could not say i was missing my family because they already passed away but sometimes i miss the fun i had with my friends and some relatives.Theres no place like home but i am beginning to love here and this is already my new home.

You are right Neil
