Arts the Life! |
|
Well most of my friends know about some of the achievements and exploits of my 6 year old daughter Niamh and I was very proud of her yesterday. The week before we got an invitation to the opening of a schools art exhibition at our local university - it was invitation only and there were 'artworks' exhibited from every local Primary School (5-12 year olds) in the whole region. The opening of this Artsfest exhibition was by invitation only and the exhibition then opens to the public for a few weeks. She didn't like the picture that was exhibited as she has done better but the specialist art teacher for the school had chosen this one to go forward so she just had to make do with it - the art teacher kept telling us that Niamh was very arty and a pleasure to work with, she is sure that Niamh will be very talented as she grows up. I have no idea where she gets that from as neither Dad or I are any good at art - although as with reading I have always made sure she has art and craft things and gets to use them! I just wanted to share this with you all and to ask if you or your children have ever had anything in an exhibition like this? How did you feel? Am I just being too proud of my daughter? Oh yes and for all of you guys celebrating Mothers Day out there - have a good one! xxx

mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | Aw thanks Breath! I can't do much physically so I love to encourage them with things and support them any way I can! She says she wants to be a blood doctor when she grows up (her words - she is fascinated by blood) I just hope she doesn't combine that with her art - could get gruesome! lol I bet your daughter is really cute too! xxx

3. Gollywog (483) | 4 months ago | You should be very very proud of your daughter, show her off to every one children thrive on praise. Give her all the encoragement to keep trying, Each one of my four children had something special about them, my daughter it was maths, the eldest boy music he can play any instument, the next he loves landscape gardening, the youngest is a footballer, he plays for a big city team. Im not alowed to say witch one, he hates me bigging him up lol. I know if I didnt big them up they wouldnt have thought they could have got this fare, so be a PROUD parent your daughter will go far. Keep happy.

mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | Isn't it funny how the very thing that encourages them when they are younger embarrasses them when they are a bit older? lol I too believe in encouragement and praise going a long way - and I always try to do that with both my kids, we shall see if it works soon enough! My eldest is 14 and although is a smart, caring and good lad he is at that stage where everything you say to him is wrong! lol I had to ask Niamh for permission to post this as she was quite embarrased when she found out about the reading in the bath post and I didn't want to upset her! lol Sounds like you have done a great job with all of your kids and you are quite rightly very proud of them all! Go on tell me which team your youngest plays for - I am in a really nosey mood today! Pm me

Gollywog (483) | 4 months ago | All I can say is he is not in the MAN U, LIVERPOOL,CHEALSY,ARSNAL thats as much as I dare say. You can be as nosey as you like lol. I cant tell you!!!!! I will always be proud of my children even if they fail misserably in the future. They should know what they want as they are adults, not babys any more! My Daughter has four children 1st Boy,2nd Girl,3rd Twins,Boy and Girl shes stoped there, thats it! They are all little darlings.

mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | LOL Ok I wills stop digging .... for now! I agree with you, as long as they try and do the best they can if they fail they can still say they tried instead of regretting it later! I didn't realise you were a Gran and to 4 of them! I bet you are proud of all of them and that they are gorgeous! xxx

Gollywog (483) | 4 months ago | I spoil them rotten, I went to a car boot today a bought them a top each for the summer they were only 50pence each and one for their mum they where all chuffed to bits. Im not wealthy so I dont spend big bucks on any of my grandchildren, they do get new things for birthdays and christmas. The 4yr olds name is summer so when I say ive got some thing for summer for you summer she giggles. lol.
| |
|
|
mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | See I think you spoil them with love and that is the most important thing! My Gran is always buying little things for my kids - sometimes quite expensive things sometimes - she has struggled and worked all her life and she likes to spoil the kids now that she can - the only thing is my kids worry that she is spending all her money on them so she has promised to stick to bargains only unless it is birthdays or Christmas! I am so glad that I met you here sweety - you are great! xxx

5. wolfie34 (10557) | 4 months ago | And so you should be right pleased with her, the picture is brilliant, and I laughed because already she's a critic of her own work at 6! Yes I can see some great times ahead of her, if she's talented at 6 can you imagine all that talent when she's 16! She looked so bonnie in that dress, a little cherub and to be invited to an exhibition at 6, well that is amazing I hope you kept the invitation so you can show it to her when she gets older. I was never talented like that at school and I couldn't draw to save my life, even now I am hopeless at art, any art. Well done Niamh you have made your mum so very very happy and proud. Thanks for sharing xxxx

7. p1kef1sh (2955) | 4 months ago | You have everything to be proud about Mummymo. Niamh getting into that exhibition is fantastic. She's clearly already going places - such maturity - thought that she had a better painting to enter. LOL. Now that's the sign of someone confident. Have you a photo of the piece that you could put up on your Profile or somewhere. I'd love to see it. I hope that she keeps it up. Well done her. Hugs all round I think. HUGS.

p1kef1sh (2955) | 4 months ago | This is what happens when you answer discussions direct from e mail notifications. Those monsters look very real to me. I wouldn't want to meet one wandering about my back garden. She's captured them beautifully. Here's to the next exhibition.
| |
|
|
mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | LOL I do that all the time sweety! The monsters are a Brontosaurus and a pterodactyl - she was learning about dinosaurs when she did that picture! Did you know the Brontosaurus was a long neck and that it had a very small head - it would eat foliage off trees and shrubs and had to eat allo the time to keep it from getting hungry? These are some of the things she told me yesterday! lol Hugs to you my darling! xxx
| |
|
|
p1kef1sh (2955) | 4 months ago | Send the Brontosaurus round please. I need the garden weeding. I'll stay inside and watch though. Niamh can give him his orders. He looks very fierce.

8. kbourgerie (1629) | 4 months ago | Although I have artistic qualities, I cannot draw. I like crafts, painting, beadwork, scrapbooking etc. My 11 year old son can draw though and I have thought about putting him in a school for the arts. This year his art was chosen to be displayed in one of the Phoenix art museums. The only problem was the display was only shown in those hours I had to be at work, so I didn't get to go and see it. I was very dissapointed. I can hear your pride and think it is well deserved. Congratulations to you and your daughter. Give her a big mylot hug from all of us. Happy Mother's Day.

mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | Oh my sweety another new avatar! lol It is really pretty! I am so sorry that you missed seeing his art displayed - I can imagine how horrible that was for you - if it helps I bet he will be exhibited again and this time you will get to see it and the time after, and after! I will give her an extra hug in the morning sweety! xxx

9. whiteheather39 (9990) | 4 months ago | Of course you are not being too proud. I think it is great that Niamh has such a God given talent and that you are supporting and encouraging her. You are being a mother to be proud of and I am sure Niamh knows that and loves you.
| |
| |
|
|
mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | You know whiteheather you have really touched me with this response - I thank you from the bottom of my heart! You know what is so spooky is today she made me a card telling me I was the best mum in the world and she loved me - we had mothers day in March and she didn't know it was Mothers Day in America and Canada! xxxx

whiteheather39 (9990) | 4 months ago | Wonderful. That was not spooky but one of God's little reminders that you are loved.

10. angelwhispers30 (1630) | 4 months ago | I think anything like this is a reason to be proud of your kid. Any achievement is a reason to celebrate. My daughters first year in primary school was a tough one. She has a mild to moderate hearing loss which results in her having to wear hearing aids. In order for her to keep up with her classmates, it was decided that she would have a Special Needs tutor at school 11 hours a week. With this tutor she just blossomed and did so so well. She quickly caught up to her classmates and was able to keep up with the level that they were at. As a result of this, she won the Academic Pupil Of The Year award, and was given a certificate and a prize at a special assembly in school before all her classmates. I was so so proud of her for that. My heart was ready to burst. It may not mean much to other people, but to me, it meant the world to see her up there standing quietly and smiling shyly at everyone. Happy Mothers Day to you mummymo!

|
|
mummymo (10500) | 4 months ago | Oh 30 I bet you were ready to burst with pride! i think it is so sad that some kids have to struggle so hard and when they get that little bit of help you see what they are really capable of! Thank you for sharing and Happy Mothers Day to you sweety! Hugs xxx
