Shopping at Hannafords 5/12/08

I had to do the grocery shopping for one of my clients today. She prefers Hannaford over Price Chopper. I usually can find everything on her list at Hannaford without too many problems.
As I browsed the aisles in search of her items I could hear a young child screeching quite loudly. The screeches got louder as rounded the corner. The child was about 3-years old, maybe younger. He was very loud. His mother kept tryng to get him to quiet down without much success. I walked over to her and said that it sounded as if he had a really good set of lungs and laughed. The poor woman was clearly upset over her child's behavior. I smiled at her and patted the little guys arm and told her that I had twins that did the same. I smiled and walked away. The little boy seemed to calm down and the screeching stopped. For a little while that is.
Once I crossed off the last item on her list I headed for the checkout. The checkouts were quite busy. I looked for the least busy one. As I was loading the conveyer and waited to get the total the bagger asked me how I was this day. It was then and there that my body decided to have a hot flash
. I let the bagger know I was having one and she laughed and said, yup and it would be about 150 degrees in here for you. I took off my jacket and fanned my face to no avail.
When I left the store I didn't put on the jacket. The cool air felt so refreshing! It was just what I needed to cool down.
Tomorrow I will be shopping again at Hannafords. Hopefully the Hot Flashes will not follow.

I feel really good when I can reassure a young mother and help her settle her child, if only for a moment. That moment might make a difference in whether or not she felt herself get out of control. On the other hand, those "power surges" are enough to make a civilized woman go out of control herself.

Sometimes all kids want is a little attention. One Mother told me her daughter was jealous of the dog when I went on and on about the dog and the daughter was acting up. So I paid attention to the daughter and she smiled/quit acting up.
Yes, hot flashes are unreal. I hope mine stop someday. I've had them for years now and I'm sick of them. Take care

I will say you did a very good deed on trying to calm the young child down in the next isle. I know it's annoying at times to listen to some of these young kids that do nothing but scream their lungs out and the parents do not even try to get them to stop or start screaming back at them makeing them cry worse. As far as the over heating goes don't know about that one guess some go through it I guess glad you got yourself to cool down once outside that's always refreshing.
