I am a proud former band geek, having played the flute and french horn in both marching and concert band:)

I am racking my brain to think of the name of a song we played 10 years ago...I want to say it was something like "for eleanor" or emily, or emma, - i know it wasn't the famous "fur elise", lol.

This song was real dreary, kind of like something for a funeral or rainy day...I really liked it, but for the life of me don't remember what it was and of course don't still have the sheet music laying around from back then! I hate it when I have something right on the tip of my tongue but for the life of me can't remember what it's called.

If you have any suggestions on what it might be - and I could be completely wrong about the title I would greatly appreciate it!

And if you don't know what it is, that's okay too - you can share with me what classical music you like or your own band geek experiences:)

I wasn't a band geek, but I did play violin when I was nine. Yet, the kids in my class at school were considered geeks. So, was I one? I'd like to think not, but that's another story. I tried playing the saxophone too. I was really bad at that. I quit before I really knew how to handle that thing. I'm not sure about the title of the song you are looking for. Try looking up the song. Did it have lyrics? If so, then that will help you out.

There were no lyrics to the song - that's the main problem! It's an instrumental piece! I don't expect too many people to know since i can't give very much info about it! I am quite proud of my band geekiness:)

I so wanted to learn flute in high school, but mum wouldn't let me, and I begged for piano lessons but no dice there either. Her excuse on the band was that we couldn't afford to buy the instrument or even the band uniform, but when the band leader offered to loan me both free of charge if only she would let me join, then her excuse was that "we" didn't take other people's charity. Go figure.

After that a lot of years passed, but shortly before we retired, I bought a really nice keyboard, and, time-allowing now try to teach myself a bit. Accordingly, I have some of that sort of sheet music laying around, but cannot help you with the Emily or whatever. The closest I can come is Eidelweiss, lol. Wrong genre, but it starts with an "E"--!

Favorites? I am trying to work up to Pachelbel's Canon.

I don't think I really expect too many people to help me out on this one, lol! That;s too bad she never let you develop your musical interests - that is one thing i am very thankful about my family - my mom was a band geek and both play guitar - my grandmother an organist - so there was no way I was going to grow up without some music. Oh well, I'm sure it will hit me some night at 3 am!

I don't know the song, sorry.
I was a band geek from fifth grade until eleventh grade. I was in marching, concert and pep band. I played cornet, clarinet, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and tenor sax. I tried teaching my self to play piano and did a bit, but we don't have a piano anymore, so I probably don't remember what I had taught myself.
I really liked playing Wagner (his Prelude & Fuge stuff).

my best friend played the bass clarinet. I learned a little of those since it's similiar to flute but once I started playing the french horn i liked that so much! I sadly don't remember any of the songs we did it was so long ago!

I used to sing some classical music, but it has been many, many years. Since I have even really listened to anything classic.

I am very sorry I really wish I could help you.

I was not a band geek, I was a choir geek. But we did perform with the band.

it's okay, i don't think anyone is going to know because of so few details! I never though the choir people were geeky, there were the "popular" kids in our school, lol. Either way we proudly embraced our geekiness!

I always wanted to be a part of a band but never got the chance. I started learning guitar at the age of 25 which was pretty late i supposse. Sometimes i do write my own songs though.
