Dolly Parton wants to sue Howard Stern!

Dolly Parton wants to sue Howard Stern, or rather, the Howard Stern show for using bits from one of her audio books last week so they sound like racist slurs and sexually graphic sound bites, commenting on people like Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, Burt Reynolds and Johnny Carson in a segment that aired on May 6. She says she's never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in her life, and can't believe what Howard Stern has done to her, saying in a "blue million years" she would never say such vulgar things. But I guess the "Stern" show regularly uses altered clips from William Shatner, Oprah Winfrey and others... Do you think this is right, that the Howard Stern show should do this? Do you think Dolly should sue? Or just figure Stern does this, and no one would likely take it seriously? What do you think? (I can see it both ways! But I don't think I'd like it if it was done to me, or if I was Dolly.)

Howard Stern takes in so much money and he has insurance to back him if he gets sued I'm sure. I don't think he has the right to do it, but then again, he has never cared about anything being right or wrong. If I were Dolly Parton I would sue. I wouldn't want my work being used in a derogatory manner. I don't know if she will win. Judges take sides with people I never thought they would.

I don't think it's right. I'm sure she can sue and probably win her case because that isn't free speech, it seems sort of slanderous to me. Because it seems like they're trying to ruin her reputation by altering what she has said and turning it into something else. I don't think that's right at all, but he likes to tick people off.

I can see why she would be upset. I don't blame her for wanting to sue him. I don't like the man myself.

I've never liked or listened to Stern because I think he's rude and crude, but my husband thinks he's funny.
Honestly I don't think anyone will take it seriously, because those who listen to Stern frequently know what type of person he is and that he likes to twist things like that.
Although, if he did that to me I'd be mad as heck too. I don't think suing him would be the answer, because that will only hurt his pockets, which are very deep.
But he's that type of person who won't offer an apology, so I guess she has no other choice.
