Have your eyes ever permanently changed color? Mine did.

My eyes were a very lovely blue till about five years ago. My ophthalmologist says the Arizona sun does that to people but it usually just fades them to a lighter color. My eyes turned green!
I always wanted green eyes, but it's weird that they changed, they don't look like mine when I see them in the mirror and it's rather creepy.
I know baby's eyes change color but have yours ever changed permanently as an adult?

Hi dragon54u,
I've been told that all people's eyes are actually blue, but are more or less discolored by environmental and dietary influences.
Your case might support that idea - maybe sunlight is a relevant environmental influence.
BUT did they ever have atomic tests anywhere around Arizona? If you feel yourself going into a rage and sprouting big, green muscles and turning bullet-proof, it might be time to move somewhere else.
I also believe David Bowie has one blue eye and one green eye - which resulted from a school bashing many years ago. Another case of environmental influence?
As for my eyes - just plain old poo-brown (hopefully not environmental).

Just by the by, on the subject of green eyes, if you haven't already seen it, I'd recommend the movie "Big Trouble In Little China" starring Kurt Russell.
Very very funny movie - and definitely a testimony to the depth of Kurt Russell's acting ability.

I moved from Arizona to the midwest a year ago, thank God! I hated that place with a passion.
Brown eyes are pretty. I've never seen that movie but I really like Kurt Russell. I remember having a crush on him when I was a teenager and I still think he's cute. Heck, I remember when he first started acting, in the Disney movies! I'll watch for that movie to come on the tv, I'm sure it's good.

Yeah it is really strange. But really interesting in finding this unusual story. Well, my eyecolor never changed at all. Have you or anyone ever read anything about eyecolor changing?

I've had a few people in this discussion say they "only" have black eyes. Black is a gorgeous color for eyes! They are mysterious and deep, they look like soft black velvet and they are VERY seductive! Don't wish for a change, they are perfect for you!

My eyes up to a few years ago were dark hazel, the outer edge was very dark brown with just a tiny ring of green on the inside, everyone just thought that my eyes were brown. If I cried then they would look green and I used to wish that they would stay green.
Well they always say "be careful what you wish for" but in my case I wished and my eyes now are green, it is like they have turned the opposite way, they are now more green with a tiny ring of brown on the inside. I do not know how or why, but I do now that I now love the colour of my eyes!!

That's very strange! No reason for it, no surgeries or drastic life changes? I like the green with the brown ring, that sounds beautiful! My eyes still have the black ring around the outside of the pupil, although I've seen many people who have no discernible ring around the outside of the pupil.

Nope no reason for it at all, I have had nothing at all done to my eyes. I noticed it a while ago, but funnily enough my hubby only noticed it a week or two ago!! Never was very observant you know, he is terrible!!

i have mood eye colors they change on me regular but mostly stay hazel colored. Sometimes with more brown and sometimes with more green it just depends. Then there is a rare time when they turn almost pure golden brown. Like in my picture above there they were more brown than usual.

That's weird! I had lasik surgery in '99 and they didn't change then. Brown eyes are nice on a girl, hope her mom wasn't too upset!

my passport says my eyes are brown... funny when i had the passport renewed and i was with my brother looking at it.. he told me that my eyes aren't brown and they are black....
i havent noticed it though as i was growing up.. but maybe it is true that it can change.. i always thought my eyes are brown until my brother insisted they looked really black and when i looked at the mirror... they are black! :(

My eye colour changes on a daily basis - and not just a few shades. When i'm happy my eyes are a sparkling sky blue. When i'm angry they go a really steeley grey colour (it's creepy). And when i'm sad they turn very aquamarine - they look like blue eyes ringed with bright green. I don't know if they'll eventually change to just one colour.

You are so fortunate! My eyes used to change, too, but not that dramatically. Now they remain the same color all the time. That's a lot less dramatic but at least they no longer signal how I feel, which is good when I need to hide my feelings to spare others.

Isn't that strange?! Do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Do you live in the Southwest USA? The sun there kills everything. The only good thing I ever got out of the Southwest was my two boys and green eyes!

My eyecolor never changed at all. I am sorry that your original eyecolor faded out. I see that your eyes changed from blue to green. It is unusual. Yeah, I think that probably came from the Arizona sun. Well, to me, that never happened to anyone before.

Thank you!
I've always loved black eyes, they are so deep they look as if you can fall into them and drown in a velvet sea.

i am asian and i have dark brown eyes, sometimes it turns to black. but i always love to have blue eyes. maybe because it is not usual here in our country to have blue eyes. my friends who has a deep passion to have blue eyes wears contact lenses to have their eye color blue. but it looks un-natural to them. anyways, i am contented with my eye color, besides i am 30 yrs. old and don't wear glasses at all. so i think i have strong and not vulnerable eyes. happy posting!! :)
