Has this happened to you

In the last few weeks, I have gone to purchase gas and found the pumps are closed, all except for the super premium. Regular and premium are out. This has happened three times to me in the last two weeks. I also have been told by my son-in-law who is a truck driver that he has seen to truck stops completely out of diesel. They had a delivery of diesel coming, but ran out before it got there.
I am starting to believe that we will soon be seeing a gas shortage at the gas stations. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

It has happened to me before, but not recently. One station had trouble getting their deliveries. Another station was trying to empty the tanks in order to be able to remodel. Anyhow, there have been talks of a supply shortage, but I don't think that's the case here. We may see problems when station owners are not able to pay their bills to the delivery company.

Thanks for responding, I hadn't thought about the trouble the gas stations would be having getting deliveries, but I think you are right, something is making it more difficult for some to get supplies and I am sure it has to do with fuel.
Thanks, again

That is a rotten thing to do! I would drive to the next station if I ever saw anything like that which, fortunately, I haven't encountered yet. It's best to keep your gas tank above half full and to buy a locking gas cap if you live or work in an area where there are a lot of people. I heard that stealing gas from people's tanks is on the rise.

Thanks for responding, and yes, we did go to a different gas station. I also will be purchasing a keylock gas cap for the same reason you mentioned. It's a scarry thought to think that when I go to the gas station it maybe closed because it can no longer afford to stay opened.
Thanks, again

I have seen this happen when they are either changing out the underground tanks or are putting in new pumps. I guess there are pumps that don't go higher than $4 a gallon.
But, I haven't heard of anyone running out. The only reason I could see for that happening is that the owners of the stations are being forced to pay so much for their next shipments that they can't keep up with the price. I know that a lot of station owners have a very thin profit margin and if the costs of wholesale gasoline jumps up higher, all of the sudden, they may have problems.

I don't drive, so I'm never the one buying the gas, but I have stopped with my husband many times at the gas stations in our area of Arizona, and this hasn't happened to us once. But who knows about the gas shorage? You may be onto something. Perhaps high prices have o do with the government preparing us for what's to come in the future.
