If you got $2500 to help someone as well as help yourself , What would you do?

Let's just say someone came to you with $2500. They asked you to take half of that and help someone who probably need some help at this time, then after helping that person, take the other half and do one thing that you can really benefit for yourself? What would that be and how you go about it? Just so to be fair, if I got it, the half I would get to help someone, I would look for someone who could need a bill paid that they couldn't pay or could use help getting a car, or someone who could use a something as simple as a new hairdo or makeover, I would help them. As for myself, I would DEFINITELY use my portion to either fix my car to where it NEEDS to be, or buy another one. Hope to see some great creative and thoughtful answers here. Peace.

I need new clothes, so I would find a person who also needed new clothes and we could go on a shopping spree together and then sit down for lunch or dinner and become good friends.

I hate having to return things to the store. So when I get in the mood to shop for clothes, I know that I will have to do some trying on. It is not too bad, really.

Rozie, That sounds great! I appreciate your input. That is one of my favs although lately, I seem to get a bit preoccupied in just buying than really trying it on. When my daughter graduated two weeks ago and I got my stimulus check, I bought an outfit but didn't think to try on the skirt and it was a bit big. I ended up giving it to my youngest daughter since she could more than likely fit into it. I would love to just one day go and try on clothes, see if it fit and roll from there.

If it had to be a person, I'd say go to the streets and look around for people that have nothing and see what I could do to get food to them. Or, there are some families in the community that are what most would consider "poor". I'd go buy food for them see what their other needs were and help them. My money would go to buy food and to fix up my home which is in need of repair. It would be a nice little start. I'd really like to help the elementary school in the small community here. It's not a town. But they have trailers for class rooms. It's a small school and the community is growing much faster than the school. They need too much, sending notes home for the parents to buy everything for classes. They just can not afford the items. If I could help a community it would be this. Most, if not all of the money would go there if I had a choice. (even mine)

Moondancer, Thanks for being the first. I had a thought while reading your response. You spoke about the school that needs help perhaps a fund raiser to help them out would be in order. Keep in touch. I'd like to know more if you do it. While I have you, our church has started a $100,000 project to start up a community center, improve on the school they have and other things. I know some of that money I got would go there. Thanks again. Check out my other discussions if you can. Peace.

Thanks for the idea. I have thought about it. I use to do them. Organize and the whole shebang. They are a lot of work. I am disabled and don't know if I'd do well. I just put down a couple of things that came to me a moment. I have tons. Good luck in yours. I'd like to add you as a friend.

For me, the answer would be quite simple and straightforward. I will just donate half of the $2500 to charity association. And get half of it to pay my bills Nowadays, everyone seems to need money badly. I suppose it's because of the economy downturn and inflation due to food and crude oil price hike. I really hope I come across such interesting offer one day later

You are most welcome. The worst part is not only the gas price hike itself. The price increase of other commodities which require transport (so need gasoline) and this will lead to widescale of inflation eventually. So what we consume daily become more expensive, but our salary does not increase as much. End up, the effect is we become poorer . I hope your friend will get through the ordeal, because the crude oil price seems like going to go down.

Thanks for coming and jumping in. Yes, the economy is hard and getting worse with the days. I was talking to a truck driver who's a friend of mine and he told me that he barely makes enough to bring home with the gas as it is. I truly wish there was something that could ease the burden here.

I would ask around at church from the deacons to see if there is someone who needs help. I know there is a lady who has medical problems, does not drive, is diabetic, and has to see the doctor quite often, but there could also be someone else. Is this just to help just one person? With the rest, that would be enough to finish paying for my Macbook PRO. I do love to write and I want to write anywhere.

That sounds very good. There is always someone who could use the help. And if you can help two people, by all means do so. I am interested in that Macbook Pro. I am interested in getting one of those which don't have viruses and don't break down. I was in Best Buy and got to check one out. Talk to me about them.

I would buy my friend who lives in Ghana a plane ticket to come over to America. It has always been his dream.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm sure he'd get a thrill out of coming here. What about for yourself? what would you do for you or would the whole amount go to him?

I would take the first half and help my son out with some of his bills and encourage him, if there is any left to do something to help someone else. The second half, that is easy, since I am unemployed, I would pay off a couple of small bills. The person who came to me with the money would also get a big hug and thank you from me.

I think finding someone to give the money to will be easy as there are charities and organizations that need help all the time, be it an orphanage that may need a fridge, an old age home that needs a washer, or all the other small things which end up being huge like bills and food and clothing. My car also needs to be tuned and there are little nic naks around the house that need to be fixed but given a choice it would give a nice down payment on a course, one of those small ones a night or correspondence course in something that I enjoy, maybe learn another language or learn another area in IT or even a cooking or mechanics course, all of them will help with life and if it helps to get a better job that gives me a little extra cash or helps me save some more ( a friend of mine took a mechanics course and except for large things that require special machinery she does all her own repairs and saves a bundle) all the better.

sounds good to me. Thanks so much for coming by and giving me your opinion. You are right there are so many non profit organizations that could use a contribution. It hurt me bad to know that there were Meals on Wheels programs that were affected by the gas that they couldn't go and do the stuff they were doing and that hurt me to know that. Thanks again for your input.

I think I would take the money and buy food to take to the local food bank. Alot of people have finacial struggles now and need the help of food pantries. I might also give the money to my local electric coop to help out with anyone who might have trouble paying their electric bill.

Sounds like a truly noble idea; With food prices along with gas prices getting higher, that would be a great help for someone who could use it. Thanks for stopping by

No stranger would come forward with that proposaal. But known acquaintance or friend may come forward. If that happens, i will tell him/her that i will donate my portion also to poor and needy people and do that.

Perhaps, perhaps not. you have eccentric folk out there who would. There was a certain movie called Indecent Proposal so I guess some things can happen. I thank you for stopping by and take care. Nice pic.
